Sound Bath Sessions 184: Sayuri Yanagawa
I almost missed Sayuri's session but luckily made it just in time. We recorded in her apartment near the Sakurajosui station. Her friend wanted to have a sound bath and her husband was there to take photos. Her apartment was such a great space as there was so much sound that created the experience. The ticking clock, rustling leaves through the open window, airplanes, and passing trains. The scene was just so grounding and familiar with each element perfectly on cue. I love how she incorporates the outside sounds as part of her sessions. Her bowls have a very comfortable modulation tempo, not too fast, not too slow. Her playing is patient and thoughtful. This is a 5-minute session for people on the go who need to slow down. A rain stick, chimes, outside conversations, passing trains and a tingsha bell create a great space to relax.
