Sound Bath Sessions 182: Fei Jen Tsai

Fei's session was one of the most memorable recordings of the Sound Bath Sessions project. Everything was just.. right. We recorded in her small studio in Kaohsiung. It was a large carpeted open space with many bowls lining the walls. There were three setups already chosen for the recording. This was the one. This was the one that put me over. As if the world stopped just to hear her play. This final session left me in tears and for a while I thought about why and how sound could do this to me. The bowls she chose just had such a pure, soft, sound that connected with me, with the entire experience, so perfectly. The sound was low, the drones holding me like a warm hand. New shapes created with every strike. It filled my ears and my breath. The way the soft warm wind wafted through the window kissing my each hair of my skin, the sun diffused through sheer curtains neither hot or cold. She was invisible, I was alone. It was just- perfect.
