Sound Bath Sessions 165: Annie Chiu
I met Annie last year about the project and she recently got in touch with me to record her sessions. Pressures from work and life led her to learn more about sound therapy for her own well-being and to help others that may have similar emotions. None of these pressures were apparent during our session where we talked and laughed about sound experiences, relationships, and life. Annie used bowls from her teacher’s studio collection at Lai Chi Kok. During the sessions, the rich, pulsing harmonics of the bowls gave them warmth, as if they were living and breathing objects. This recording is my favorite one from our session. Annie played broken chord sequences and let them ring long enough for you to deeply listen to each tone. Some chords had interesting harmonics when mixed with other bowls. Some dissonant notes were played offering contrast from the pleasing, pulsing harmonies. Very slow and powerful.
