Hello and welcome,
My name is Sarah and I will be your guide through this aphantasia-friendly morning meditation.
Today,
We won't be picturing anything.
Instead,
We'll use the felt sense,
The tangible sensations already available in your body,
As our anchor.
If a thought or an image happens to show up,
That's fine,
But nothing here will depend on that.
Wherever you are right now,
Sitting,
Lying down,
Allow your weight to settle in to whatever is supporting you.
Notice the actual points of contact,
The back of your legs,
Your hands,
The soles of your feet,
Or the side of your body against the sheets.
Take a breath in through your nose and release through your mouth.
One more just like that,
In and out.
Bring your attention to your hands.
Don't look at them,
Just feel them.
Are they warm or cool?
Heavy or light.
Notice any tingling,
Any pulse.
Any texture of the fabric or air against your skin.
Now shift your attention to your feet.
Feel the temperature of the air on them,
The weight of a blanket.
Wiggle your toes slightly and notice exactly how that sensation lands.
Now move to the space across your chest and shoulders.
Notice the rhythm of your breath as pure movement,
The rise and fall,
Without needing to picture it.
Is there any sense of tightness?
Maybe ease?
Just note it.
No need to change it.
Let your attention shift to sound.
Notice the sound closest to you.
Maybe your own breath or that of this meditation.
If there are any sounds further away that you can detect,
Traffic,
The hum of a building,
Just allow those to be here as well.
Allow your attention to rest in the space between the closest sound and the farthest one.
Begin to take a slow stretch,
Arms overhead or however feels good,
And notice the sensation of your muscles lengthening.
Roll your shoulders back.
Feel the joints move.
Press your feet into the floor or mattress and notice the solidity of the contact.
Rather than picturing your day ahead,
Ask your body the question,
What does ready for my day feel like,
Physically,
Right now?
Where in your body might you notice steadiness?
Just let that sensation be what you carry with you.
Not as an image,
Just a felt marker you can return to throughout your day.
Perhaps even placing your hand if there's a space in your body where you feel most called to anchor into.
And remind yourself that as you go about your day,
You may return here at any time.
We will take one more breath in,
One more breath out.
Notice the weight of your body one final time,
Fully arrived,
Fully prepared for whatever lies ahead.
When you're ready,
Flutter your eyes open and carry that felt sense of steadiness into your morning.
