A Thunderstorm is, without a doubt, one of my favorite sounds to record. After a period of exceptionally good weather, we finally experienced this tremendous downpour & thunderstorm. I quickly grabbed my recording equipment and shut myself away in the bedroom. I created a drop rig on my window with 2 stereo condenser microphones & my trusty Tascam DR100MKIII recorder. Then I put my headphones on, laid on my bed, closed my eyes and listened to the symphony as it was being recorded. I particularly like the variety in the rainfall in this recording. Sometimes it's heavy, and sometimes eases a little. I almost fell asleep whilst this was recording. I was in my home, safe, warm and extremely comfortable, just observing the rain, the thunder and even the subtle trickling of the water as the storm drifts off into the distance. I often find these sounds can help me focus, ease anxiety & stress and sometimes help me sleep too. I really hope this benefits you in some capacity too.
