Flowing, Rippling River For Calm And Sleep
by Ryan Garner
I recently left my recording equipment set up near a river that meanders through a small wooded area. I clipped the microphones onto two twigs that were protruding out of the water, around a meter apart. With one microphone facing right (upstream) and the other facing left (downstream), I have tried to capture a very wide image of the water making its way past from the right-hand side to the left and away into the distance. I did have some issues with passing airplanes overhead occasionally. I thought about removing these, however, it is part of the ambiance at the end of the day and part of the "picture". I may upload an alternate version of this with the planes removed in the future if I have time. The microphones were extremely close to the water to try and keep the focus on the river sounds as much as possible.
