Find a comfortable position.
Take a deep breath in.
Hold it.
And out.
In.
Hold it.
And out.
One more breath in.
Hold it.
And out.
Feel a wave of calm and relaxation starting at the top of your head.
Release the muscles in your forehead and around your eyes.
Relax your cheeks and your mouth.
Your chin.
Feel your neck and your shoulders loosen.
Feel your neck and your shoulders loosen.
Let your arms hang heavily and your hands rest upturned.
Let that wave of release pass over your chest and belly,
Your hips,
Your thighs,
Your knees,
Calves,
Your ankles,
And your feet.
All of your limbs are heavy and resting deeply and comfortably.
Imagine yourself on the shore of a river.
Tall evergreens line the banks in a crowded line on either side.
The sun glints off the running water as it flows past you.
You step into the water with bare feet and legs,
Stirring up little clouds of silt.
Water bugs stand on the surface and skitter away.
There are small fish that brush against your skin as they weave between your feet.
As you step a little further in,
The current gently pulls around you and against you.
There are birds calling to each other,
Jays and sparrows and finches.
They trill and chirp over the babble of the river,
Hopping on the rocks and rocks.
The river hopping on the rocks and flying through the trees.
The sun is warm on your shoulders and arms.
As you look upwards,
You can see the sky framed with green tree tops grazing the blue atmosphere.
You close your eyes,
Letting the sun caress your face.
You feel perfectly whole.
Each breath is freedom and lightness.
You lean down and dip your hands into the water,
Letting it run through your fingers,
Glinting in the sun.
Now as you sink down into it,
You recline on your back into the stream.
The bird songs are muffled.
Your ears are filled with the constant sound of the current as you drift,
Cradled by its grace.
You are completely relaxed.
You are safe here,
Beautifully whole,
Content,
At peace.
