Hello and a warm welcome to Insight Timer.
I am Rahul Singh.
If your body is tired.
But your mind is still working.
This is for you.
Maybe you're replaying something that happened today,
Thinking about tomorrow.
Trying to solve a problem,
Remembering something you forgot.
Planning,
Rehearsing,
Second guessing.
And underneath all of it,
There may be a feeling that you should keep thinking.
As though stopping means something will be missed,
Something forgotten,
Something left unresolved.
Tonight,
You are allowed to leave some things unfinished.
Let your eyes close if that feels comfortable.
Feel the weight of your head against the pillow.
The shoulders.
The bag.
The legs.
Notice where the body ends and the bed begins.
Your body is here,
But your mind may still be somewhere else.
In a conversation,
A decision,
A memory,
A possibility.
You don't need to force it back.
Just notice and return.
Feel one breath moving through the body.
Nothing special,
Nothing to control.
A breath arriving.
A breath leaving.
A thought may appear.
Let it.
You do not have to stop the thought.
You only have to stop following it.
That is different.
A thought can be present without becoming a journey.
The mind might say.
What if this happens tomorrow?
You don't need to go there.
It may say,
Why did I say that?
You don't need to return there.
It may say,
I need to figure this out.
You can let the sentence remain unfinished.
You do not have to finish every thought that begins.
Sometimes the mind keeps thinking because it believes thinking is useful.
As though staying with the problem will keep you prepared,
Protected,
In control.
And sometimes thinking is useful.
But not every thought needs your attention tonight.
You can care about something and still put it down.
You can have something unresolved and still rest.
You can leave a question unanswered without abandoning it.
It can still be there tomorrow.
You do not need to carry it through the night.
Notice the contact of your head against the pillow.
The weight of the blanket.
The air against the skin.
One breath.
If another thought comes,
Nothing is required from you.
You don't have to analyze it.
You don't have to answer it.
You don't have to push it away.
Let it remain unfinished.
There may be another.
And another.
That's okay.
Rest does not require a silent mind.
You do not have to wait until every thought disappears.
You do not have to create perfect stillness.
Thinking can remain somewhere in the background while you become less involved with it.
Let the forehead soften.
The space around the eyes.
The jaw.
The tongue.
The shoulders.
No need to check whether your mind is calmer.
No need to check whether sleep is closer.
Just feel.
VEET Won't.
Bread.
Stillness.
Maybe there is something you genuinely need to think about.
A decision.
A worry.
Something uncertain.
You don't have to convince yourself that it doesn't matter.
It may matter very much.
But important does not always mean right now.
Some things are better met tomorrow.
With daylight.
With perspective.
With a mind that has rested.
So for tonight,
You can stop working on it.
Not forever.
Just for now.
You are allowed to leave the day unfinished.
You are allowed to leave a conversation unrehearsed,
A decision undecided.
A problem unsolved.
Question unanswered.
Nothing has gone wrong because you have not finished thinking.
Let the next thought come without going with it.
Let it begin without needing an ending.
And return to the body.
The Pillow.
The Blanket.
The Bread.
There is nowhere else you need to be.
Nothing else you need to finish.
Nothing else you need to understand tonight.
A thought can come.
And gold.
Another can come.
And go.
You do not have to follow.
You do not have to finish.
You do not have to solve.
Just you.
Just resting.
Let the mind think somewhere farther away.
And let the body become heavier.
Quieter.
Less Involved You are allowed to leave the day unfinished.
You are allowed to rest before everything is resolved.
And if sleep comes.
You do not need to notice when thinking ends and sleep begins.
You can simply stop following and let the rest of the night happen without you.
