Find a comfortable position,
Sitting or lying down.
And let your body be supported.
Close your eyes.
Or soften your case.
Maybe something didn't go the way you hoped.
Rejection.
A mistake.
A loss.
A plan that fell through.
Whatever it was,
You're here.
And that's a good place to start.
Take a deep breath in through your nose.
And let it out slowly.
Through your mouth.
Again.
And a long breath out.
Let your breath find its own rhythm.
Feel the surface beneath you,
Holding your weight.
You don't have to hold yourself up in here.
Soften your forehead.
Let your jaw loosen.
Drop your shoulders.
Away from your ears.
Let your arms and hands get heavy.
Feel your belly rise and fall.
Before we think about moving forward.
Let's be honest about where you are right now.
Setbacks hurt and it's okay if this one does.
Notice what you are feeling.
Disappointment.
Embarrassment.
Frustration,
Tiredness or maybe a mix.
You don't have to fix it.
Just name it quietly to yourself.
Where do you feel it in your body?
In your chest.
Your stomach.
Your throat.
Your shoulders.
Rest a hand there if you'd like.
Breathe slowly toward that spot.
And let it be exactly as it is.
Resilience doesn't mean feeling fine straight away.
It means giving yourself room to feel it and then finding your footing again at your own pace.
Breathe in.
And feel yourself being held by the ground.
Breathe out.
And let a little of the tension go.
Now gently.
.
.
Think of a time in your past.
When something was hard.
And you got through it.
It doesn't have to be a huge thing.
Just a time when things felt difficult and you kept going.
What did you do?
Who or what helped you.
What quality in you got you through.
Maybe patience.
Humour.
Stubbornness or asking for help.
That quality is still yours.
It didn't go anywhere.
It's here now.
Even if it feels quiet.
Imagine you're a tree in a strong wind.
Branches move.
And some leaves fall.
But underneath,
The roots are holding.
Feel your own roots.
Reaching down into the ground beneath you.
You can bend without breaking.
Now let's think about what comes next.
Without any pressure.
You don't need a whole plan.
Just ask yourself.
What's one small thing I could do today?
Or tomorrow.
That would help me feel a little steadier.
Maybe rest.
Maybe a conversation with someone you trust.
Maybe a walk,
A meal,
An early night,
Or one small step on whatever you are working toward.
Let one small thing come to mind.
And notice how it feels to choose it.
Small steps count.
A setback is an event.
It's not a verdict on who you are.
You can learn from it if you want to,
And still be kind to yourself about it.
Breathe in.
And picture yourself.
A little time from now.
Standing steadier.
Breathe out and let go of the need to rush there.
Again,
In and out.
Begin to bring your attention.
Back to the room.
Feel your hands.
Your feet.
The surface beneath you.
Take a deeper breath in and stretch if that feels good.
When you're ready.
Open your eyes.
Carry that one small step with you.
You don't have to feel brave to take it.
Be as gentle with yourself as you would be with a friend in your position and come back to this meditation whenever you need to steady yourself again.
