Hello,

My name is Jacqueline and I am a very proud grandma.

I write guided meditations for my grandchildren and I'm happy to share them with you too.

In this meditation,

We will experience butterflies who have messages to share with us.

So keep your mind open and be ready to use your imagination.

Let's prepare.

Make yourself comfortable,

Either sitting or lying down.

Wiggle a little and now allow your body to completely relax.

Take a deep breath in and as you slowly breathe out,

Gently close your eyes.

Take another deep breath in and relax your shoulders as you breathe out.

And now we are ready to begin.

In your mind's eye,

You see yourself sitting outside.

The air is warm and you feel totally at peace as you look around.

At first,

There is nothing much to see.

But then,

A short distance away,

You notice a butterfly flying towards you.

Followed by another and another and a few more.

They happily fly in front of you.

They bring a smile to your face as you watch their graceful movements.

Each butterfly uniquely beautiful.

As you watch them up close,

You realise they are even more gorgeous than you first thought.

You feel calm and your mind is content as the butterflies glide and flitter effortlessly before you.

You sense the butterflies are sending you a message.

Butterflies do not live for very long and the thought of this reminds you to enjoy everything about your life.

The people,

Family and friends who make you happy.

The moments of simple enjoyment as you do things which you have fun with.

And you are also reminded to stop worrying about the things you don't have.

Instead,

Look for the good in each day and enjoy the things you have around you.

Be grateful for all that you have.

You continue watching the butterflies dance so gracefully in front of you.

Each one bringing warmth and peace to your heart.

The butterflies gently dance in the air and then flutter from flower to flower.

They are so graceful as well as beautiful.

You sense that the butterflies have another message they want to share with you.

Like the butterfly,

We should feel free to do what makes our body happy.

Movement is so good for us.

What does movement look like for you?

Maybe it's dancing,

Running,

Playing with your friends outside in the fresh air,

Laughing and having fun.

Whatever movement looks like for you,

The butterfly is letting you know that not only does it make our body feel good,

It also makes our mind feel good.

It energises us and inspires us to express ourselves in positive ways with a feeling of freedom in our heart.

You continue to watch the butterflies.

They bring a smile to your face as they dance so freely.

They inspire you to live your life with more joy and freedom.

You slowly hold your hand out and a butterfly lands upon it.

What colour is it?

The butterfly is so light.

Up close it is even more beautiful.

The butterfly seems to have something else it wants to tell you.

Be free and enjoy the outdoors,

Come rain or shine.

Nature is so awesome.

Take time to explore the wonderful open spaces you have where you live.

Take time to look at the flowers,

The trees,

The wild animals and the sky above you.

Begin to recognise the different scents around you and the sounds which you may have dismissed before.

Bird calls are so different from one another and when we take notice,

The sound encourages us to seek out where the bird is sitting,

Normally way up in a tree as it calls to us to say hello.

The butterfly leaves your hand and you feel deeply warmed by the encounter.

You watch the butterflies dance for a little longer and then they begin to leave.

Most of them have flown away but one or two are still around.

These are sending you calmness and peace for the rest of your day.

They flutter around you.

You feel inspired to explore more of nature.

As you continue to watch the butterflies you are thankful for their guidance.

The last of the butterflies hover a little above your head as if saying goodbye and then they fly away and you watch until they slowly disappear from your sight.

With a happy heart and a feeling of contentment with your life,

It is time to end this meditation.

Take a breath in as you wiggle your toes and fingers and as you breathe out gently open your eyes.

Notice how you are feeling.

I hope you feel happy and inspired by all the amazing messages you have received.

Use this positive energy as you go about your day knowing that you can return to this meditation at any time.

Thank you for meditating with me.

Before you go I would like to ask you a question.

What colour was the butterfly which landed upon your hand?

Thank you for taking this journey with me.

In the comments let me know how this meditation has helped you today.

Bye for now.
