Scientists say we dream every night,
Whether we remember or not.
We might go through periods where we remember our dreams and then other periods where we don't.
My feeling is sometimes the psyche wants to make changes in our lives and doesn't want our interference.
That if we knew the content of our dreams,
We would get right in there and start trying to fix things.
And the psyche wants to be able to work without being observed for a good reason.
It's always for a loving reason.
It's always for our best.
Amma says we go back every night to our souls for a visit.
Amma is my teacher,
The famous Indian hugging saint,
Who until COVID has gone around the world for 35 years,
Hugging people and giving them a direct experience of unconditional love.
Another teacher I had said that dreams were units of consciousness,
Sort of like dreams came as reinforcement to increase our awareness.
So whether we're meditating or not,
Human beings' awareness increases,
Your wisdom increases during the course of a life,
Hopefully.
And it's not an excuse not to meditate,
But both things are good,
Meditation and listening to dreams.
We sometimes get reoccurring nightmares,
And this can happen when we're maybe not paying attention and our psyche starts knocking on our door repeatedly to get us to open up,
To understand more and maybe to allow change.
If we're getting too stuck,
We can get nightmares.
Kids get nightmares with very young children.
And their first nightmares will be pictures of their wounding,
That they're to heal this life,
Their homework.
They've come here to heal.
Dreams can be pictures of feelings.
It's just feelings that we maybe didn't allow,
That we felt underneath,
But didn't really allow up to our consciousness.
And so it's sort of like getting something that you left behind and you get a package special delivery bringing it to you.
Because we can't really run from ourselves.
I mean,
We might try,
But it doesn't work.
So the more during our lives,
The more we learn to face ourselves and maybe work with our dreams in helpful ways,
The softer and smoother our life can go.
Because we don't have to be sort of pushed and shoved to do our emotional homework.
One technique that I've used a lot is in dreams is to,
I would lie down on my bed and I would become each figure in my dream.
The psychologists say that when we have a dream,
Even if it's about other people,
That it's really a picture of our own psyche or our psyche is trying to work something out.
So if you can lie down and experience each figure so that you get a sense of how they feel and their point of view,
Then you're really receiving the gift of the dream and you're really allowing a full digestion of it.
And if it's an uncomfortable dream,
You can steer it towards a more positive ending this way.
And sometimes by doing this technique,
We can actually avoid difficult circumstances that maybe we were headed for in our lives.
Because dreams also can be warning.
So if you become the figures of the dream and gently just steer towards the outcome you want in the dream,
Changing what they do and say,
But without forcing,
Just sort of feeling into it,
Take your time,
Then difficulties can be avoided.
It's a way of being proactive,
Of fully receiving the gifts that the dreams are trying to bring you.
Because dreams are always trying to help you.
They might feel threatening sometimes,
But they're coming from your soul,
Your psyche to help you do your emotional homework of this life.
There's something too called breakthrough dreams,
Which can resolve a conscious difficulty.
So it's a little bit different from lucid dreams this way.
So a lucid dream is where you are awake during the dream and you can steer it.
And if you do have lucid dreams,
You don't want to avoid all difficulties.
You might want to just allow yourself to face some small difficulty in your dream.
If you put the ability for lucid dreams and you just steer always to the positive and the easy,
You'll end up avoiding maybe your life that you came here to live.
So don't do that.
Allow a little bit of difficulty.
But in breakthrough dreams,
That's really what happens where it's a shift and it's a union of conscious and unconscious mind to a new outcome.
So I had a dream like that once where I was driving with my sister and she was in the driver's seat and I woke up in this dream and I realized that I really needed to take the driver's seat of my life.
And I did and then suddenly my car was just heading for this golden road of light.
That changed me dramatically,
That dream.
And it's called a breakthrough dream where you break through some of your psychological barriers to your own soul.
Well I hope this helps.
There's a lot more that could be said about dreams but I'll do another video.
Okay bless your hearts.
