
New Beginnings Meditation
This meditation is designed to help you let go of everything that has been holding you back and move forward into a new chapter feeling light, free and capable. Through positive visualisation and affirmations, you will be led to a feeling of optimism and faith in the goals you've set yourself.
Transcript
This is a meditation for new beginnings and is designed to help you move into a new chapter feeling light and free.
Let's start by getting comfortable and fully relaxed.
Notice if you could be a little bit more comfortable in the position you're in.
Take a big deep inhale right down into your belly,
Hold it there for a couple of seconds and then sigh that breath back out,
Feeling any tension leaving your body as you do.
Take another big deep breath in,
Hold it for a few seconds and then exhale until your lungs are empty and one more really big deep breath in,
Hold and let it all go.
Now continue to breathe slowly and gently and imagine a sense of relaxation starting to trickle its way down your body,
Starting at your head.
Feel it move into your forehead and temples,
Let your eyes relax as it washes over you,
Let your cheeks and your jaw soften,
Letting go of all tension.
Allow the relaxation to trickle down your neck and move deeper into your shoulder muscles,
Bringing a feeling of peace.
Breathe gently and slowly,
Feel this peaceful feeling making its way down your arms and into your hands and fingers and as your body relaxes,
Notice how relaxed your mind feels too.
Your thoughts like weightless clouds passing through a clear blue sky.
Let that peaceful sensation start to make its way to your lower body now,
Down your spine,
Into your torso and then down into your hips,
Feeling them release as it does.
Relax your upper legs,
Your thighs and your hamstrings,
Let that relaxation trickle into those muscles and release any tension you're holding there and then let it keep flowing down towards your feet and into your toes.
Your ankles are relaxed,
Your feet are released,
Your whole body is in a calm state of relaxation,
Your mind is in a calm state of relaxation and now it's time for us to leave the external world behind for a little while and go on an inner journey to a place of deep inner peace and new beginnings.
Imagine that you're in a forest,
It's winter,
You know it's winter because the air feels freezing cold,
The trees are bare,
The ground is icy and crunchy beneath your feet,
You can see your breath as it hits the cold air,
You're wrapped up in a warm coat and you're carrying a heavy bag on your back.
You're walking along a path through the middle of the frozen trees and in the distance you can see a clearing and a body of icy clear water.
Keep walking through the forest until you reach the water's edge and when you get there make yourself comfortable.
Take the backpack off your back,
Notice that there's a comfy blanket and cushions for you to sit on and wrap yourself in and just take a moment to settle down here.
Take in the water,
Feel the peace and the stillness.
Now open the backpack,
Notice that it's full of big pebbles,
That's what's been making it so heavy,
That's what's been weighing you down.
As you remove the pebbles from the backpack,
Notice that each one has a different word written on it,
The words of all the things you want to let go of and leave behind in order to move forward feeling free.
All the things that you do not want to take with you into this new season.
What words can you see on the pebbles?
What has been holding you back?
What has been weighing you down?
Self-doubt,
Worry,
Comparison,
Neglecting yourself,
Perfectionism.
Notice all the things you want to let go of written on the pebbles and then one by one start to throw them into the water.
Release them and feel yourself getting lighter and lighter with every limit you let go of.
Once all the stones are in the water,
Sit with that feeling of lightness you've created by letting go of all those things that don't serve you anymore.
Feel how much freer you feel,
How much better you feel,
How much easier your journey into this new season is now going to be.
Now put the backpack back on your back,
Noticing how light it feels and start making your way back down the same path you walked up.
As you walk,
Notice how everything has changed around you.
The sun has come out and you can feel its warmth on your face through the trees.
The crunchy ice that was beneath your feet has melted away and now you can see signs of new life everywhere.
New plants starting to shoot out of the ground,
Blossoms and buds on the trees and the first signs of new bright green leaves.
Walk down the path and take it all in.
The miracle that is nature,
The miracle of new beginnings and as you walk,
Think about your own new beginning and how you can blossom alongside nature.
What is that going to look like for you?
What are you going to be able to do now that you've let go of all those things that were holding you back?
What new habits and goals can you put in place to help you move forward in this new season?
And how are you going to feel when you've achieved them?
Just stay there and bask in those feelings for a few moments.
Allow yourself to really deeply feel them and now I want you to affirm with me either by repeating these affirmations to yourself in your head or by saying them out loud.
I let go of what does not serve my growth.
I am allowed to let go of the things that do not empower me.
I plant seeds of love,
Hope,
Optimism,
Faith and clarity.
I nurture the seeds I've planted with kindness and compassion.
Just as the flowers do in spring,
I am blossoming too.
I deserve all the good things that will come my way.
I am grateful for all that I have and all that is on its way to me.
I welcome growth and change.
I am surrounded by miracles and I take the time to notice them.
I am on exactly the right path.
I can choose a new beginning at any given moment.
I believe in myself.
I love being me.
I keep the promises I make to myself.
I create habits that support the life I'm trying to create.
I let go of habits that do not serve the life I am trying to create.
And once again just sit with the feelings that those affirmations have given you.
Perhaps they're feelings of gratitude,
Excitement,
Joy.
Let yourself feel them.
You deserve to feel them.
This is your natural state of being.
Bask in it for a while and when you're ready,
Slowly bring your awareness back to the room you're in.
Give your fingers and your toes a wiggle.
Gently open your eyes.
Feeling lighter.
Feeling better.
Feeling free.
