Heard pain is healed pain.
Several months ago,
I had a conversation with someone close to me.
Over the last handful of years,
We've had a rather rocky relationship.
After many phone call conversations,
In-person conversations,
Exchanges via text,
I finally had to surrender.
I felt I had said all there was to say from my heart.
And that is all that I could do.
The rest was up to my loved one.
A little over a year went by leading up to our conversation several months ago.
This was not a planned conversation,
And I had no intention of trying to repair the past.
Simply quality time together.
We generally always had safe,
Connected conversations,
And this one was no different.
Until I opened up and explained my side of the story on a particular situation that both of us were a part of.
As I opened up,
Honestly and from my heart,
I could see my words were landing right into their heart too.
As I continued speaking my truth,
Tears began to well up in their eyes.
What I was saying was being heard.
I didn't need words or validation from my loved one.
Their presence was enough.
That specific topic of conversation.
Began to fade out.
Once I said what I needed to say.
And what I needed to say.
Was received.
We continue to carry on with our time together.
Ultimately having quite an impactful,
Special day.
Something changed that day in me,
For me.
Something changed that day in and for my loved one.
Our relationship has changed for the better.
After years of highs and lows and challenges,
Something brought us together.
Something healed that day.
My heart was heard.
My pain was healed.
Our connection remains solid.
This is evidence to me that speaking my truth from my heart and having it be received by an open,
Available,
Loving loved one,
Healing is possible.
Not everyone is open,
Available,
Or willing to hear another's truth.
This can create roadblocks on one's path to healing.
All we can do is try.
When the time is right,
It will happen.
I am grateful for my loved one.
A piece of my heart is now healed.
May you find the courage in your heart to speak your truth.
And may you have someone on the other end to receive it softly,
Gently,
And with care and love.
Peace and love,
My friends.
Healing is possible.
