If you've ever attended a kirtan or other form of collective spiritual worship, you may have started with a ceremonial chanting of "OM" accompanied by someone playing a harmonium. A harmonium is a musical instrument, often called a reed organ or pump organ, that creates sound by using air to vibrate metal reeds. It is played by pumping bellows to generate airflow and then playing the keyboard. The instrument was initially developed in Europe but gained particular popularity in India. This track is a 20-minute musical drone, consisting of a single chord. It's meant as a contemplation of the A Major chord, often used to harmonize an OM chant. You'll find this drone suitable for meditation, mantra recitation, chanting, yoga, sleeping, or studying. I recommend listening at a lower volume and harmonizing with it as you exhale. Humming is a favorite way to feel the vibrations of the sound waves in your body.
