Time Was

This is a meditative poem, reflecting on the connection between two people, and how such a connection can shine through in the world around us. The listener is free to interpret the piece however they choose. I will only add that it is not metaphorical.

Time was, The moon gave me an inner light. When you were gone, I'd look on her and think there was a chance that you were looking too, And just to think we shared a moon sufficed to reassure me of the shimmering link that bound your heart in mine and me in you. But now this link must break, Such is my fear, And we are bound to part and fall and fade, When sun and moon and stars can't chase the shade that gathers in the heart you still hold dear.
