Winter's message is to rest often, sleep deeply, and conserve our energy - as a means of recovering from the past year and to prepare for growth when spring arrives. This meditation helps us embrace this message. And when we do, our bodies, minds, and energy settle; tension releases; and a sense of renewal emerges. Our inner stillness opens us up to our wisdom - our deep knowing that guides us to let seeds of growth rest and to let what does not serve us fall away. Winter is not a time to push through, but rather a time to become quiet and let the season unfold within us. Music composed by Sharon West of Dusty Dreams Music accompanies Pam's spoken words.

Transcript

Winter invites us to pause,

Not as a retreat from life,

But as a necessary rhythm within it.

This is a season that asks less of us outwardly.

To let go of the activity,

The striving,

The urgency,

The drive to get things done.

Instead,

It invites more rest,

More sleep,

More conservation of energy,

To recover from the past year so we are ready for what is next.

Winter is not a time to push for answers.

It's a time to become still and revel in that beauty.

When we allow ourselves to slow down,

To embrace stillness and quiet,

We begin to hear what our deeper wisdom has been holding all along.

That wisdom that speaks so softly.

It tells us which seeds of growth need time to rest,

Gathering strength beneath the surface,

Waiting for the right conditions to bloom.

This deep wisdom also tells us what is ready to fall away,

What no longer needs our energy,

What can be released so that future growth can arise more easily.

When we stop filling every moment,

When we resist the urge to keep moving or figuring things out,

The surface begins to settle.

And beneath that settling,

We'll find a deeper knowing that has been there all along,

Quiet,

Steady,

Patient,

And wise.

But this kind of knowing doesn't come through effort.

It comes through allowing,

Through surrendering,

And letting it unfold.

Winter does what it does best when we let it.

It prepares us.

Not for more busyness,

But for the kind of growth that truly matters,

And growth that takes us where we want to go.

Winter's invitation is simple.

Rest more fully.

Conserve energy.

Embrace the beauty of stillness.

And trust the season to do its quiet,

Necessary work.

Let it unfold.
