Hi,
I'm Tejaneeva Shah.
And I help people experience greater clarity,
Peace and freedom.
Through a simple approach called Surrender,
Allow,
Be.
I'd like to take you through an exercise.
And this exercise is not about trying to stop thoughts or empty your head or even achieve a special meditative state.
The exercise is about listening to the gut.
In discovering what happens when you stop supplying attention.
To the continuous commentary.
That normally fills the experience of life.
So let us begin.
By sitting comfortably.
Or lying down.
Whatever is more comfortable for you.
There is no special posture required.
And you can keep your eyes open or closed,
Whichever feels natural.
Do not try to relax.
Become peaceful.
Or prepare yourself for meditation.
Whatever is present when you begin.
Is allowed to be present.
As I speak,
Simply notice what happens when each word ends.
Listen to the gap,
The small interval.
Before the next word arrives.
So simply listen to my voice.
But also notice where my voice disappears.
Every word begins.
Remains briefly and ends.
When the word ends,
Do not search for anything.
Simply noticed the gap before the next sound appears.
And in those gaps of silence,
There is nothing that you need to do.
You do not need to hold it,
Understand it,
Or make it last.
Simply allow the silence to be exactly as it is.
If a thought appears,
Do not try to stop it.
The thought is not a mistake.
And it does not mean that you have lost this exercise.
Surrender the need to do anything about it.
Let the thought appear.
Without following it where it wants to take you.
Allow everything that appears.
The sounds around you.
The sensations around you.
Allow thoughts,
Memories,
Impatience.
Curiosity,
Or even discomfort.
Nothing needs to disappear for this exercise to work.
Simply notice that everything appears and then changes without requiring you to manage it or control it.
Now stop looking for an inexperience.
There is nothing you need to achieve.
You do not need to become peaceful.
You do not need to become silent.
You do not even need to become the observer of what is happening.
Simply be.
In this moment.
You do not need to control your breath.
Just breathe normally.
Notice something very simple.
During the silence.
You did not have to keep experience happening.
During the silence,
You did not have to manufacture the next moment.
During the silence.
Sound disappeared.
But being did not disappear.
A thought may have disappeared.
But being did not disappear.
Even when there was nothing to interpret.
Something did not need your assistance.
Now notice the difference between silence and the one who says I am experiencing silence.
The sun never needs to announce that it's shining.
The moment you feel that you need to say that you are experiencing something,
Narrative and commentary has returned.
There's nothing wrong with that.
Just do not fight it.
Simply notice that even the observer can become another thought about what is happening.
We are not trying to discover a better thinker.
Or even a better witness.
We are noticing that being does not require either one.
The silence does not need someone standing inside it explaining that silence is happening.
This is surrender.
Allow.
Surrender the requirement to control what appears.
Allow whatever appears without turning it into another story.
Be without requiring the next thought.
Explanation or instruction.
Now let's remain in this silence.
For a while.
Keeping our eyes closed.
Just notice.
The gap between the words.
And when you are ready.
You can rub both your hands together.
Until they're nice and warm and place them over your eyes very gently.
And flutter your eyes open.
And simply be.
Thank you.
As surrender does not silence thought.
Surrender just removes the struggle with thought.
Allow does not preserve silence.
Allow removes the requirement for experience to be different.
B does not create another observer.
B reveals that nothing needs to be added.
In order for being to remain.
In love and presence.
Thank you.
