Hi,
I'm Melanie,
And I'm here to hold space while you rest.
You don't have to do anything right now,
Except be here.
If you need to stay awake for a while,
That's okay.
If you fall asleep right away,
That's okay too.
Your body knows what it needs,
And we need to trust that.
For the next eight hours,
You get to just be.
No performance,
No earning it,
Just rest.
Let's start by helping your body remember it's safe to slow down.
Go ahead and settle into your bed.
Feel the weight of your body on the bed.
Feel the pillow under your head.
Feel the cozy blanket surrounding you.
Notice where your body makes contact with the surface beneath you.
Now let's take a few breaths together.
Nothing fancy,
Just breathing.
Breathe in slowly through your nose.
Hold it for a moment,
And let it go through your mouth.
Again,
Breathe in,
Hold,
And release.
One more time,
Breathe in,
And let it all go.
Good.
Your body is starting to remember you're safe here.
I want you to notice where you're holding tension,
Not trying to fix it,
Just noticing.
Your temples,
Your eyes,
Your jaw,
Your shoulders,
Your belly,
Your hips.
Wherever you find tightness,
Just breathe into it.
You don't have to force anything.
Just breathe.
Your nervous system has been running all day.
It's been keeping you alert,
Keeping you safe,
And keeping you moving.
And it did a good job,
But now you can let it rest.
You don't have to be on anymore.
You don't have to scan for danger.
You don't have to manage anyone else's feelings or needs.
For the next eight hours,
You are off duty.
Your only job right now is to breathe,
To rest,
Let your body remember what safety feels like,
And I'll be here checking in every so often,
Just reminding you that you're held.
So take one more deep breath with me.
In,
Hold,
And release.
You are safe,
You are held,
And you can rest now.
