Hello,
Sweet friend.
I'm really glad you're here.
Sometimes big,
Angry feelings show up in our bodies.
Feelings that feel hot,
Or tight,
Or ready to explode.
If that happened today,
You were not in trouble.
Now,
Your body just needs help cooling down.
Let's do that together.
Find a cozy place to sit or lie down,
And let your body start to settle.
When you feel ready,
Let your eyes gently close,
Or keep them softly looking down.
Take a slow breath in through your nose,
And let it fall out through your mouth.
Good.
Let's do that again.
Breathing in,
And breathing out.
Now let's use our imagination.
Imagine inside your belly,
There is a little volcano.
Not a scary one.
Just a volcano that sometimes gets too hot when big feelings come.
Maybe today,
Your volcano felt very fiery,
Very rumbly,
Very ready to burst.
That happens sometimes.
Volcanoes aren't bad.
They just get too full of heat.
And the good news is,
We can help your volcano to cool down.
Put one gentle hand on your belly.
We are going to send cool,
Calm air into your volcano.
Let's do that again.
Take a slow breath in through your nose,
And blow it out slowly through your mouth,
Like you're a cooling hot soup.
Beautiful.
Again,
Breathing in,
And long,
Slow blowing out.
Imagine the lava inside your volcano getting less hot,
Less bubbly,
More calm.
Let's do one more cooling breath.
Breathing in,
And blowing out very slowly.
Now,
Imagine your volcano getting quieter.
The rumbling is slowing down.
The lava is cooling.
The top of the volcano is resting,
And your belly feels softer.
Your chest feels calmer.
Your body is beginning to feel safe again.
You are doing such an amazing job.
Angry feelings are part of being human.
They come,
And they go.
You are still kind.
You are still good,
And your body knows how to calm down.
Take one more slow breath in,
And a long,
Soft breath out.
And when you feel ready,
You can gently wiggle your fingers and your toes,
And slowly,
Softly open your eyes.
Your volcano is cool,
Your body is safe,
And you did something very strong today.
