For those of you that find it hard to take a break, switch off and have time to yourself, why not take just over 3 minutes out of your busy schedule, make a hot drink, get comfy and listen to this guided meditation on drinking a hot drink, mindfully. I hope you enjoy it!

Drinking a hot drink mindfully.

Take a moment out of your day just for you.

You can do this at home or even at work.

Before we carry on go and grab yourself for your favorite hot drink.

Once you've made your hot drink mindfully take a seat and get yourself comfortable and hold the cup in your hand and just look at it.

Noticing the colors,

The way the light changes those colors and the shading that it may be creating.

Now just look at the drink again.

Notice the color or the steam coming off it.

Now move your attention to the way you're holding the cup or mug.

The sensation of the warmth coming through to your hands.

The texture of the cup on your hands.

The weight of the cup.

The way your hands are holding it.

I just want you to bring the cup to your nose.

Breathe in the smell.

Maybe you can feel the warmth going up your nose.

Maybe the steam is warming your face.

Notice how that makes you feel.

If you're thirsty notice the feeling of wanting to drink.

What does it feel like to be thirsty?

I just want you to bring the cup to your mouth.

Place the cup on your lips.

Noticing how that feels.

When you're ready take a sip and hold the drink in your mouth just for a few seconds before swallowing it.

Notice how it feels in your mouth,

On your tongue.

Moving it around in your mouth.

The different sensations.

When you feel ready swallow if you haven't done so already.

Feel the fluid go down your throat.

The sensations of the warmth in your throat.

How it's quenching your thirst.

Can you feel the warmth going all the way down to reach your stomach?

How does that feel?

Now just take an extra few little moments here to take in all that you have just experienced.

And when you feel ready continue to drink your drink however you wish.

Try and do this at least once a day when you have a warm drink or you could do it with a cold drink and notice the difference in sensations from hot to cold.
