You are listening to Designed to be Awake with Mick Kubiak Okay,
Welcome to part three of the three-part series on ways of being where I'm going through the signs from Aries to Pisces and wanting you guys to really think about them not as a person that you know or a person that you are,
But more as a way of being that your soul chose or was forced into,
Depending how you look at it.
If you want to know more about that,
Go start with episode one because I do talk about that.
But yeah,
Whatever the case,
This is where your sun sign is,
Right?
But there's so much more to your chart than that.
You may or may not feel connected to the sign as I'm describing it,
And I'm describing it in the context.
Again,
This is just a reminder of where we left off.
Imagining a soul,
Embodying each of these signs all the way from Aries to Pisces.
And the purpose of this really is to give ourselves access to understanding ourselves and one another from a place of like,
Oh,
I meant to do this,
Be this,
Feel this,
And this other person is meant to do,
Feel,
Be that other thing.
And if we support each other in being who we really are in this context,
Everything goes better.
And the second point that I really want to make is that we all have access to all the signs.
And so don't deprive yourself of access to a sign that sounds really lovely to you.
It could be a wonderful balancing point to your chart,
To your existence,
To embody something that you admire in another sign,
To play with it,
To engage more with people who have that energy.
And again,
You could have someone showing up with a ton of like,
Aries or Leo energy,
And it's not their sun sign.
It might not even be in one of their big three.
There's all kinds of ways this thing plays out.
It's definitely multidimensional,
And that's why I love it.
I love it.
It's got so many layers and levels,
And this is just like a scratching of the surface.
So we left off episode two,
Part two,
With the deep ocean Scorpio.
I think of that way of being on the ocean floor.
There's just a depth to Scorpio that really can't be matched,
I believe,
In any other way of being.
And there's a darkness because the bottom of the ocean is pretty dark.
But as we know,
There's a tremendous amount of life and there's a lot going on down there,
A lot of which we haven't seen.
And if you look at some of those photos that are surfacing these days of these wild creatures that just live in that layer of the ocean,
It's astonishing.
It's like you couldn't make it up.
It's really phantasmagoric.
Is that the right use of that word?
I think so.
To me,
That also speaks to Scorpioness.
There is just this access to things that everybody else doesn't have access to,
And this can make being in the Scorpio way feel lonely sometimes.
And that's also why there's this intensity to Scorpio.
They're like,
You guys,
Everybody's like,
Chill out,
Have a beer.
They can't do that.
They're not going to do that,
Nor should they,
And nor should you if you're in the Scorpio way or if you're wanting to access some of that depth.
And in addition to all of that depth,
What I have found in the Scorpios I have known is there's a tremendous amount of generosity in this sign,
And they will show up for you,
And they will give almost without you asking.
And sometimes that's good,
And sometimes it's not.
You don't know until you're there.
But if you just understand that about the Scorpios in your life,
That they're feeling things at a deeper level than most of us do,
And that they're in the dark a lot of the time,
And they're comfortable and familiar in the dark at a certain point.
But that doesn't mean they're not lonely.
So be kind.
And I don't really agree with this stereotype of Scorpios as deceitful or sneaky or any of that.
I haven't found that.
I actually find them to be pretty,
They have a code.
Now it's possible that in a certain environment,
In a certain job,
If that code requires sneakiness,
That's,
You know,
It's in their toolbox.
Again,
That's not been my experience.
And just to say one thing that might make the Scorpio way feel better,
Which is just the sexiness of the sign,
And it's so sexy because of this deep,
Dark depth,
And we're just drawn to it,
You know,
Like we can't help ourselves.
It's very alluring and seductive and appealing.
What happens with a lot of people is then they get in over their heads.
We're not all meant to be down there on the ocean in this lifetime.
You will be or you have been.
Have respect,
Be honoring,
And that's what I'll say about Scorpio.
And now we have ourselves arriving at the connecting door between Scorpio and Sagittarius.
And there's a palpable feeling of like relief in some ways.
And I think that image of Scorpio as the phoenix that rises from above,
It's supposed to rise from the ashes.
But in the case of Scorpio,
It rises from the depths of the ocean and is like,
Get me out of here.
Kind of,
Right?
Like,
I got myself out of here.
That's the better way to put it.
I got myself out of here.
I transformed.
I drew energy up from the deep darkness of the ocean,
And I became something that could survive outside of that.
And what that thing is,
Is Sagittarius,
The mutable fire sign,
Often associated with adventure and also education.
There's something just very playful and excited about life.
They like to travel,
And they like to travel in their minds,
And they like to travel to learn,
And they also are associated with higher education.
They want to know things.
They have some of that Gemini curiosity.
That's their opposite sign,
But it's applied less to the immediate surroundings and human beings and more to the big,
Bad world out there.
The world,
You know,
They want to go places.
They want to eat the food.
They want to meet the people.
They want to drink with the people.
They want to deeply immerse themselves in other cultures.
This is how they learn.
So let's imagine,
Right,
We go through this period of deep transformation,
And we emerge into the world,
And we're like,
Let's party,
Right?
Let's have some fun,
And let's not get too heavy about things,
And let's just play.
And again,
This different type of play from the Leo type of play,
In that it's really,
It is more about other people and the world,
And there's just this desire to experience all of it.
Now,
Similar to Aries,
Where they've got that pull to go forward,
Also a fire sign,
Sagittarians can take some heat for being insensitive,
And they're going to relentlessly move in the direction that they want to go.
And you can see how important that is on the heels of Scorpio,
For example,
Or on the heels of the whole chart.
And this is what we have to trust,
Is that every embodiment along the way is needed,
Is beautiful,
Is equal to all the others in what it has to offer.
It's offering something different.
And so we have to understand,
If we're going to love a Sagittarius,
They're going to speak off the top.
They're known for foot-in-the-mouth disease.
They're going to say things because they're just talking,
They're not editing.
I'm not saying they can't or won't eventually,
But that's sort of a thing,
Right?
Just out in the world,
On fire,
Wanting to experience life and everything it has to offer,
The full banquet.
They have a reputation for being very judgmental,
And I have seen that.
I have seen that in the Sagittarius,
I know.
But I also see much more the ones that I've met and know,
They're questioning and they're curious,
And they just want to eat it all,
Eat everything at the banquet,
Try everything.
And then they want to go somewhere else and see how it is over there.
And this whole time,
They're absorbing and learning and sharing and out in the world,
Living large.
That is my sense of the Sagittarian way.
And after all of that,
We go to the connecting door between Sagittarius and Capricorn.
Very different vibe,
But taking all of that experience and education and love of learning,
We move into a phase of life that is more about establishment,
Right?
Creating and establishing things like banks and buildings and museums and being like,
What can I build?
Capricorn is the builder.
So it's a phase of life or a way of being where you're building things.
You're definitely pulled back a little bit from the vibrant intimacy of life and other human beings,
But there's a good reason for this.
You're trying to get the bird's eye view and figure out what can I give?
What can I contribute here?
And how much money do I need to do it?
So Capricorns are known as the moneymakers.
They're savers.
They wait to spend on something that has long-term impact and that generally serves people more than themselves,
Like their family and not just the first generation,
Like 10 generations out they're trying to save for.
That's why they're wealth builders and they create legacies.
And this is how they see everything.
The Capricorn way does not dilly dally with people that aren't going to have a lasting position in their lives.
They don't tend to dilly dally with interests that aren't lasting and don't lead to where they are going.
I love this way of being because it took me a long time to get where I could even understand it.
My dad was a Capricorn and we famously did not get along.
There were other issues there,
But like I was all the right side of the brain and he was all the left side of the brain.
Nothing I did made sense to him.
He had no respect or love for like intuition,
Spontaneousness,
Creativity.
He had a little passing interest in some of those things.
You could see that at moments,
But most of the time he was like,
Everything you're doing is stupid.
And I didn't really understand that until I came to my own Capricorn phase of life way of being.
And I learned more about Capricorns and was like,
Damn,
This is valuable.
This is a valuable way of looking at the world.
And it's very caring and it gets misinterpreted all the time as not being caring.
It's very caring.
It's opposite cancer.
And so there's like that link of nurturing in both.
They just nurture very differently.
Cancer is going to want to hold you close and feed you.
Capricorn is going to want to train you how to survive in the world.
And it's going to want to give you the resources you need to build things.
So they're great investors.
They're great.
You know,
If you're looking for a business loan,
As long as they're like,
Hmm,
That makes sense to me long-term,
I genuinely believe that's going to work out for you.
It's going to work out.
It aligns with my values,
Your values.
Let's do this.
So yeah,
You can hopefully feel into how that way of being in the world is wonderful and beautiful and very sobering.
I kind of like that too about Capricorn.
I've done all the wild things in life.
I've sown my oats.
I've been into the depth of the ocean in Scorpio.
I've traveled the world and ate everything and danced with all the different types of people.
Enough of that.
What am I going to do?
What action am I going to take?
What am I going to build?
Capricorn.
And yeah,
There's just a focus to it that starts to feel really,
Like I said,
Sobering.
I've come to like the word sober.
Sober,
Not being pulled into this and pulled over to that.
And like letting your emotions rule your decisions and your life.
You're just not tossed about anymore.
And not only are you not tossed about,
You're creating for the world objects,
Structures,
Systems.
Capricorn.
And then this will be the hardest one for me to talk about,
Interestingly.
We move because one of my very best friends is an Aquarius,
Angela.
And she also has Scorpio rising in her Libra,
Which both of which strongly color her expression of Aquarius,
Which might be why I have a hard time sometimes figuring out what Aquarius is all about.
It takes like the sobriety and the sort of what I described as like a lack of interest in certain type of intimacy of Capricorn and moves it to the next level in an air sign.
One of the characterizations of Aquarius is that they love humanity and cannot stand people.
My dear friend is one of the most charming people you'll meet and she can talk to anybody and lights up a room and all that.
But I also know this part of her.
I do.
That's dispassionate and has strong ideals and a strong idea about what should be happening.
And so again,
This is the air realm,
Right?
It's about ideas.
It's about thinking.
It's about humanity.
It's big picture.
And coming from Capricorn and being this tangible builder of forms,
Aquarius kind of wants to do that same thing,
But it's much more about ideologies,
Beliefs,
Belief systems.
What does humanity need and how can I make it happen?
We've just moved into this whole thing where Pluto is in Aquarius and that's just now starting.
And,
You know,
We can see it with the like upsurge in artificial intelligence and the ability to communicate in one millisecond with someone on the other side of the planet and get to see them on a screen.
Holy moly,
Right?
That's been coming for a long time,
But it's in full display right now.
Just how connected we are because that's the way air is.
It doesn't have any limits to where it can go.
It goes everywhere.
Yeah,
Aquarians,
I love them.
I'm very drawn to them.
I've had a number of close Aquarius friends.
They have very strong opinions,
But they're also a lot of fun,
I find.
And they're visionaries.
And if they can harness those visions,
They really can change the world.
That's part of what being in the Aquarian way is about.
And if they're bringing that Capricorn builder in with them,
Yeah,
They're going to build things.
And many of the things that need to be built now apparently are airy things,
Communication systems.
It's less about buildings.
And we can really see this has been happening,
Right?
Like people are moving out of the storefront thing and moving into the online thing.
It's been happening for a long time.
But there's going to be a realization of that that's very significant to being in the Aquarian way.
I feel like when I say in the Aquarian way or in the way of any sense,
It sounds like I'm saying in the family way.
So like when you're pregnant with Aquarian-ness.
And again,
This can happen to anyone,
Right?
We can all step into that space.
And again,
I think one of the things I find alluring about it is that it is so dispassionate and creative.
And it's creating things theoretically.
So that's why it's a visionary.
And you know,
Those visions don't always come into being.
But Aquarians like to be part of things that are moving humanity in the right direction.
And in some ways,
Being overly involved with actual human beings is a distraction to that.
And so again,
If you are in the Aquarian way yourself,
Or you love someone who is,
Respect that.
It's not personal.
It's not that they don't love you,
Actually.
It's just they're in a way of being that requires a certain level of detachment in order to be sober enough to envision new forms and new ways of being in the world,
New ways of being human.
And now we find ourselves at the doorway in between Aquarius and Pisces.
Why do we want to go from the Aquarian way into the Piscean way?
Well,
First of all,
We've gone through 11 signs.
And there's a controllingness,
I'll say,
From Scorpio,
Capricorn,
Aquarius.
They all are bringing wisdom out.
And they want to control things in one way or another,
Very different ways.
But finally,
We're tired.
And we want to let go a little bit and actually just experience.
So there's just a way in which Pisces is about being and feeling.
It is after Scorpio.
Like in that,
Again,
In that water triad of Cancer,
Scorpio,
And Pisces,
These are just deep feelers.
They just feel things.
And with Pisces,
It tends to emerge in this kind of like,
I always think of Goldie Hawn in the movie,
Butterflies Are Free.
I don't even remember the movie.
I saw it like on television when I was a child.
And it like something about her character and like the story of it,
You know,
This like kind of vibrant,
Creative,
Hippie,
Just flowing with intuition and moving in the direction that feels good.
There's a mystical quality to the Piscean way,
Right?
You're connected to the other world.
And this is very appropriate because it's the 12th house.
And it's the house where we leave,
You know,
Being incarnated.
And so there's a very important process that occurs in the Piscean way of letting go.
Sometimes this makes them the greatest artists because they're just channeling right?
They're just letting it come through.
And they're in touch with things from a different place,
From a different depth.
So having Mercury in Pisces is considered to be detrimental.
And what I want to say is I think that's judgy and wrong.
Because I think again,
Mercury in Pisces is picking up on so much more and so many interesting things.
And if you can get them to sit down and draw it out,
Or dance it out,
Or just talk,
Talking is harder.
But like I find if you can just get them to be creative and follow their impulses,
You do feel like you're getting something very otherworldly from them.
It's very beautiful.
It can be hard for them to motivate,
Hard for them to act.
Again,
This is all that way of being that's like,
Oh,
I'm kind of done.
You know,
Like it can be old soul vibes sometimes.
And especially the way this world is a little bit rejecting of that,
Right?
The world that we live in on Earth that requires all of this,
You know,
Creating things and keeping things together and being in control.
And so this is surrender.
It's surrender.
And I find when in a young person,
It will either be like almost like it's already matured.
And that's very incredible.
And I wish I could think of someone like that,
But no one is springing to mind.
Oh,
Kurt Cobain.
Thank you.
Yeah,
He was a Pisces.
Just young and just picking it all up and putting it all down and like just too beautiful for this,
This world somehow.
And unable to just like keep trying and just like,
I'm done.
I'm out.
Yeah,
I think that's a very good example.
Yeah.
So in the Piscean way,
There's this need to be free and surrendered.
One of the stereotypes,
Which again is has a reason for being there,
There's a desire to escape it.
And so drugs,
Alcohol,
Watching a ton of television,
All of these things.
And in fact,
The whole realm of movies and TV and all of that is connected with Neptune,
Which is the ruling planet of Pisces or one of the two ruling planets of Pisces.
And you know,
That's in there like escape,
Get me out.
So Pisces can rule over like the Piscean way takes us into escapism.
But again,
A lot of that turns into great art.
And we've reached the end in the 12th sign of Pisces.
And then you can imagine like,
Well,
What if it continues?
So in the 12th house,
Right,
There's rest.
It's like,
Oh,
I'm going,
I'm going to go rest.
And that,
According to many wise people,
Is really all that death is,
You know,
A little break,
A little breaky break,
Time for R&R,
Rest and recovery.
And then should you choose,
You're back.
You maybe consolidate too.
There's like a real consolidation that occurs in Pisces.
You're letting go,
You're surrendering so that you can receive and understand everything that you have lived through the 12 ways of being.
And now you're going to integrate all that.
And then after that process,
You may in fact,
Get that Aries impulse to come back,
Go back,
Do it,
Do it again.
I want back in the game of life.
So I think that's the end of our three part series.
And I guess what I want to say is that what I hope for me,
Even just going through these and talking about them really gives me such a deep appreciation for the wonderfulness of each sign,
Each way of being.
And I hope you had that too.
And I hope that when I spoke of your way of being,
You felt appreciated and understood and valued and honored.
And I hope that you also got insight to people in your life who are in a particular way of being.
And that you're able to understand and support that so that they can do what they're here to do,
Be who they're here to be.
And with that,
I will say goodbye for now.
Thank you so much for listening today.
