What if the reason you feel tired, blocked, or stuck is not that you’re not doing enough, but that you’re trying to control too much? In this video, Ilana — the voice behind Mettamood — reflects on why control so often creates tension in healing, relationships, money, and creativity. Beneath the need to control is often fear: fear of uncertainty, disappointment, or not being able to handle life if it unfolds differently than we imagined. Through personal story and gentle insight, she explores why life does not always open through pressure, and how letting go can create more space for trust, intuition, connection, unexpected support, and the kinds of opportunities the mind could not have planned. Very often, that is when things begin to change. That is when more beauty can enter, more alignment, and sometimes even a little more magic. Let this be an invitation to loosen your grip, listen more deeply, and discover what becomes possible when you stop forcing and begin to flow.

One of the reasons you feel tired,

Blocked or stuck is not that you're not doing enough,

But that you're trying to control too much.

So many of us were taught to push for everything,

To chase success,

To protect ourselves from illness,

Lack,

Heartbreak and uncertainty,

To make life happen through pressure,

Tension and constant effort.

But life does not always open that way.

Very often,

The tighter we hold on,

The more resistance we create.

And maybe this is the shift so many of us are being asked to make right now.

Not to give up,

Not to become passive,

But to stop trying to control everything,

To stop living in constant inner struggle,

To stop believing that force is the only way forward.

Because some of the most beautiful things in life do not arrive when we push harder,

They arrive when we soften enough to hear what life is already trying to show us.

Welcome back to Metamood,

A space for remembering who we are beneath the noise,

A space for healing,

Truth,

Beauty and a more loving way of living.

Today we're talking about control.

The need to control outcomes,

To know what will happen,

To make sure things go exactly as planned and why this way of living so often leaves us anxious,

Exhausted,

Disconnected from ourselves and far away from the very things we want most.

Control can look responsible,

Mature and productive,

But underneath it is often fear.

Fear of uncertainty,

Fear of pain,

Fear of disappointment,

Fear of not being able to handle life if it unfolds differently than we imagined.

And I think many of us are starting to see that this old way is no longer working.

You can do the right things,

Say the right words,

Make all the right plans and still not feel at peace,

Still not see the results you hoped for.

Because it is not only what you do,

It is the state you do it from.

You can say I love you from the fear of losing someone or from real love.

You can launch a project from pressure or from inspiration.

You can care for your health from panic or from devotion.

You can work for money from survival or from trust and alignment.

Sometimes the actions look similar on the outside,

But the result is not the same.

Because life responds not only to action,

But to the energy behind it.

And if the energy behind it is control,

Fear,

Attention,

Then even good actions can start closing things instead of opening them.

I want to share something personal with you.

I used to work as a journalist and more than 10 years ago I was working for a Spanish language TV channel.

I was doing well there,

But I had outgrown that role and was ready for something more.

Then I received a very attractive offer from a big news agency.

The salary was much higher,

It looked like a major promotion and on paper it seemed like the obvious next step.

So I said yes,

But at that time I was dreaming of Latin America and especially of Argentina.

I really wanted to go there one day and this new job moved me into an English-speaking desk that had nothing to do with that dream.

We didn't really cover Latin America and after a while I remember thinking,

What am I doing here?

Why would life give me an opportunity that seems to take me even further away from what I really want?

And then something unexpected happened.

Only a few months later,

Through that very job,

Another door opened.

I was offered a position connected to Latin America,

Based in Uruguay,

Right across the river from Argentina.

And suddenly I could see that what I had judged as a detour was actually part of the bridge.

I ended up falling in love with Uruguay and it is the place I now call home.

Argentina is still very close to my heart and now it is close to me too.

That stayed with me because so often the mind wants one exact outcome,

One exact truth,

One exact answer and when life does not give it to us immediately,

We become tense,

We start doubting,

We try to control.

But sometimes life is not taking us away from what we want,

Sometimes it is leading us there through a path wiser than the one we could have designed for ourselves.

And I think this is exactly why letting go of control can feel so difficult.

Even when life is quietly guiding us,

The mind still wants certainty.

It still wants to know,

Is this the right step?

Will this work?

Am I making a mistake?

Because control often feels like safety.

If I think through every possibility,

I'll be safe.

If I prepare for every outcome,

I'll be safe.

If I don't open my heart too much,

I'll be safe.

If I don't take a risk until I have guarantees,

I'll be safe.

So most of the time control is just the mind trying to protect us from uncertainty.

But uncertainty is exactly where life lives.

Love lives there.

Creativity lives there.

Purpose lives there.

Healing lives there.

New money,

New people,

New opportunities,

New ideas,

They all come from a place the mind cannot fully predict.

That is why so many people feel blocked right now,

Because they are trying to enter a new chapter of life with an old strategy.

Control everything first and only then allow yourself to move.

But life rarely reveals itself that way.

Very often clarity comes after the step,

Not before it.

When I think about this,

I always come back to nature.

Nature does not force its way into becoming.

It unfolds,

Adjusts,

And continues.

A river does not panic because it cannot see the entire path ahead.

It keeps flowing.

A tree does not control the wind.

It learns how to sway with it.

Everything rigid eventually breaks.

Everything that knows how to soften can keep living.

And the same is true for us.

The more rigid we become,

The more exhausted we feel.

The more we try to force life into our timing,

Our image,

Our conditions,

The more tension we create.

The more we resist what is here,

The heavier everything becomes.

This is why letting go matters.

Not because it makes life passive,

But because it brings us back into relationship with life.

It helps us listen,

Respond,

And act from presence instead of panic.

And very often that is exactly what brings better results or even results that are wiser,

Richer,

And more aligned than the ones we were trying so hard to force.

And sometimes what requires the most strength is not pushing harder,

But finally letting go.

Letting go of control does not mean you care less.

It means you stop insisting that life must unfold in one exact way in order for you to be okay.

It means you loosen your grip.

You become more open.

And that openness changes things.

Because when you're no longer trying to force one exact result,

Something more creative becomes possible.

You start noticing opportunities you may have missed before.

You hear your intuition more clearly.

You become more available to connection,

To ideas,

To beauty,

To unexpected support.

And this is often where life begins to surprise you.

Simply because you stopped squeezing it so tightly that nothing new could enter.

Sometimes we think the only way to get what we want is to hold on harder.

But very often the opposite is true.

The more open we become,

The more space life has to respond.

And this is why letting go of control can help in every area.

In healing it helps you stop attacking yourself and start listening to your body.

In relationships it helps you stop demanding guarantees and start being present with what is real.

In money and work it helps you stop making every move from fear and start acting from trust,

Clarity and alignment.

And in creativity it helps your best ideas finally reach you.

Because the mind is no longer suffocating them.

So what can you actually do with all of this?

Start noticing where you're gripping too tightly,

Where you're overthinking,

Where you're trying to secure something the mind cannot truly secure.

And then ask yourself these questions.

What am I trying to control right now?

What am I afraid would happen if I loosened my grip a little?

What would trust look like here?

And then take one small step from that place.

Let a relationship be what it is today without demanding guarantees.

Create something imperfect and share it anyway.

Allow yourself to enjoy life now,

Not only after everything is resolved.

These are not small things.

These are the moments that begin to change your reality.

Today I want to leave you with a question.

Where do you notice control showing up the most in your life right now?

In healing,

Relationships,

Money or creativity?

And what would it mean for you to soften there even a little?

And maybe you have your own example like the one I shared.

A moment when you trusted life and it responded with something unexpected.

Maybe not in the form you originally wanted,

But in a way that turned out to be even more beautiful,

More aligned or more generous.

Remember,

You don't need to control life in order to receive from it.

Sometimes the next door opens the moment you stop pushing and finally start listening.
