In Between is inspired by the Arthurian Legend of the Sword In The Stone. It speaks to tending the fragile fires of an exhausted soul, who comes to terms with releasing the burdens of saving the day. It is a song about learning how to grieve death to live life more fully.

My heart is so full it feels about to burst out of my chest. As it is, I am quite literally close to breathless. It is almost 5 am and I am now finally going to sleep - it has indeed been a long night, and I have been pondering many of the things mentioned here, even down to looking up at the stars just before heading to my rest. I couldn't make out a few of the lyrics, but I caught the gist. Even after this first, single play, the chorus is echoing through my mind and there is a fine sheen of tears in my eyes. I guess the concept of resting one's weary spirit after a long day helping others really resonates deeply these days, as I am essential personnel supporting the military and healthcare through my staff and employees who are people with disabilities of all kinds. Not only are they on the front lines, but many do not fully understand the nature of the crisis the world is facing with this pandemic. They may not understand, but they feel the tension and fear surrounding them, and they are worried and afraid without knowing exactly why in many cases. The training and support my staff and I provide helps them keep themselves safe while doing their work properly, even with all the frequent changes so many of them struggle to handle. Routine is so important, and all that has been upended. I may not personallt be frontline medical (though as a Red Cross instructor, I was teaching Bloodborne Pathogens safety classes to as many as I was allowed to teach as restrictions were being imposed, until we could no longer teach), but my people do keep their hospital running and the military fed, clothed, and sheltered in a clean environment. I take on my own fears as a chronic illness and pain patient, those of my family, and then leave them at home to go to work every day and take on 600+ other people's issues and try to help them stay safe so they can help others do the same. It is exhausting these days and I have been wondering how much longer I can go on like this. Hearing this song strengthened my resolve though, and I feel I will get done restful sleep in the next few hours. A sweet dream if it happens, which is all too rare these days. Thank you most profusely for sharing your incredible musical talents with us here in the Insight Timer community. You are a gift to the world, especially those privileged enough to hear your work. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Bookmarked and downloaded. I see you and the light within you. Be well. 🤲🏻❤️🤲🏻
