When you give to charity, you also receive - love, hope, joy, and an expanded heart. How much would you pay to purchase such boons? You cannot. They are priceless. In this talk, I share the concept that those who give to charity actually receive far more than the mere benefit of a financial contribution to a cause. So give!

Have you ever noticed that when you give something,

You as the giver receives something?

So you're trying to give a present to someone or some of your time and what you get out of it is what you're trying to give.

If you're trying to give someone a smile on their face by giving them a present,

You'll find yourself to be smiling.

Or if you're trying to give advice or teach something,

We've all heard that before,

You're trying to teach something to someone else,

You have to articulate it in such a way that you're making them understand it.

What that does is it puts your own thoughts in order so you're actually learning it yourself.

I'm really fascinated with this in terms of charity and giving because I believe that the giver gets more than the receiver does.

When I give something,

I get fulfillment,

Joy,

I get community because I feel like I'm contributing to this bigger cause.

I have a sense that I'm making a difference in the world.

I always think,

Wow,

How much would I pay to receive these things if I could buy them?

When I donate my time or money to someone else,

There's this process where I have to look inside myself to find the thing that I'm going to give.

Even if it's money,

I have to look inside myself to find enough kindness to give that money away.

Same with time or anything that you're giving.

I'm mining my own soul for those things.

Then I find something brilliant and then I give it away.

The best part of it is that then I get to keep that new brilliance for myself.

If I've found a new kindness in my heart to give it to someone,

Then it's there to stay for me.

I get a lot more joy out of that than whoever I've given a bit of money to.

The receiver of my charity will get something.

They get something tangible.

They get something that's worth a little bit of money or they get a little bit of money or they get a little bit of help with something.

That's lovely.

But the donor,

Me as the donor,

What I receive is priceless.

When I give love or hope or joy to someone else,

I find that I am overflowing with those things for myself.
