In this final episode of Scott Fitzgerald's classic novel, Nick Carraway is left to deal with the aftermath of Gatsby's death. He must tend to Gatsby's father and try to come to terms with the way in which people, all too keen to enjoy Gatsby's hospitality while he was alive, behave now that he is dead. To listen to all the chapters seamlessly, please look for the Great Gatsby playlist. Music by William King.

I read Gatsby decades ago, when I was too young to understand how good it is; how by the end we have journeyed through the tragedy of the endless American Dream. Thank you , Mandy for your sensitive reading that brings the lyrical writing alive. I understand now why it is considered one of the great American novels.

Brilliant, and brutal. What a tale. Thank you for sharing!πŸ™πŸΌβ€οΈ

The last chapter is the most beautifully written and it tells the truth about the rich; carelessly retreating into their money. Mandy perhaps you could read Tender is the Night for us since it is often thought of as a sort of part II to Gatsby, exploring similar themes in a daring way. Thanks again. πŸ™πŸ»

I read this as a teenager and rejected it as a tale about selfish rich people, impervious to the fate of the poor and unseeing the future depression that would destroy their gilded lives. Fifty years later, with the self assurance of youth tarnished somewhat by life I have new understanding of this great novel. Thanks Mandy.

This is so incredibly sad. Some pieces of this final chapter were surprising and other pieces of it seemed somewhat predictable. I shall listen again to the book in it’s entirety, and am thankful to have re-discovered it as Mandy’s reading. πŸ™β€οΈ

Thanks Mandy, for your excellent reading of the story. Not an easy one to read. I was with you all the way. πŸ™πŸ»πŸ“–β€οΈ
