Poem 1358 One day my father asked me,

Do you prefer to be or to have?

I could choose between a sailing course or to purchase a whole sweater.

I told him that I wanted to be,

And so I learned how to sail.

The boat was a small optimist for beginners,

Where I had to face seasickness and my immense shyness in interacting closely with my sailing instructor.

Despite those challenges,

Which fortunately I no longer have,

I would still give my father the same answer.

He tested me to see how much I cared about life,

And I will always be grateful to him for that question,

Because learning to navigate through life is the real freedom.
