What do you say when someone you loved has been assaulted? Words seem to completely fail. This poem was written the same night my friend was abused. While I was painting, she was hurt. Through painting over my art, I thought I might have found something useful, maybe, to say to help. I hope this poem reaches those of you who might need to hear it, and I hope you believe that there is light. Trigger Warning: This poem addresses physical intimate partner abuse.
