Many people make resolutions on December 31st and plan to start their life anew the next day. But there is nothing stopping us from starting our years or our lives over whenever this needs to happen or when the mood strikes us. This dramedy poem is both serious and seriously funny.

The new year is starting today.

So put on clean undies,

Be they Mondays or Sundays,

Fireworks are flashy.

I'd rather be classy and I've made up my mind anyway.

I don't care.

We're in Capricorn.

I suppose flukelhorn.

The new year is starting today.

Here's how I see it and you might disagree,

But time is a spice,

Not a rule.

Nothing is linear.

So serve it for denier.

The new year is starting today.

I've just changed my mindset and put on my headset.

I'm taking the dog for a hike.

If I dance on the sidewalk,

A tango or foxtrot,

I'm living life just as I like.

And so all who hear me,

I think there's someone in Brisbane,

Here is your news for the day.

When you need an answer,

Even if we're in cancer and nothing can get in your way,

Let down your hair,

Crank up the air,

Say it will instead of it may.

Days,

Months and minutes,

However they spin it.

Well said. As I tell people whose birthday is today, they’ll be this age for a full year; so, we could celebrate it all year long and that they should. (everyone likes a good party). They look at me like “there goes Anne with her craZy thoughts again.” I don’t see what’s craZy about it. They are the ones stuck it square boxes instead of round hat boxes.
