Good morning.
Thank you for joining me today.
Please make yourself comfortable,
Either seated or standing.
Thank you for taking this time for you.
Take three deep breaths.
Inhale through your nose.
Exhale through your mouth.
Once again,
Inhale through your nose,
All the way down to your belly button.
Exhale through your mouth and release all of that that no longer serves you.
One more.
Take a deep breath.
Exhale all of that that no longer serves you.
And you day rose upon me.
It was as if another sun had risen in the sky.
The heavens were indescribably brighter and the earth fairer.
And that day has gone on brightening to the present hour.
That poem is by Orville Dewey.
The weight of life's responsibilities many times does not allow us to see or experience the beauty of the day.
Fear,
Worry,
Grief,
Loneliness can prevent us from seeing what is there.
The gift of the day,
As I like to call it.
And taking just two minutes to look at the sky,
To look at that bug,
To see that tree,
To notice that leaf blowing in the wind is all we need to begin to expand the scope of our awareness.
The colors,
The sounds,
Try to take it all in.
It is immense and it is your gift of the day.
When you listen,
You can hear the chirping.
You can hear the wind,
The songs of the birds.
All of that energy is available for us to absorb.
We are all energy,
Even the smallest of critters.
There is an energy that emanates from all things on this planet.
Listen.
Sometimes it can feel as though you hear them breathing.
You can hear the earth breathing.
Perhaps they are meditating too.
This is the gift of the day.
It has been said,
Some people after recovering from an injury or illness will comment on how wonderful it is to be well again,
Just to experience once again our world and all that it offers us.
Bless yourself with this gift of the day.
Put effort into looking and listening.
Your new day has arisen.
Don't let your day go by without putting effort into looking at your gift.
If not just for a moment,
Many times that moment can transform us and that moment can turn into an hour.
That hour can even turn into a day.
You can then learn to have more of these moments.
It is what we all need more of these days.
Perhaps we cannot change the universe,
But we can change ourselves first.
Job 12 verse 7 through 9.
But ask the animals and they will teach you,
Or the birds in the sky and they will tell you,
Or speak to the earth and it will teach you,
Or let the fish in the sea inform you.
Which of all these does not know that the hand of the Lord has done this?
May you be well and may you enjoy your gift of the day.
Please know you are my kindred spirit.
I send you blessings and I send you love.
And may it be so.
Namaste.
