We can all agree based on numerous research on the importance of exercise. But, how do we connect the exercise/movement to meditation? Not too difficult. Just as we connect meditation most often to being seated or on our meditation cushion. Thankfully, there are numerous forms of meditation. Often, it is as simple as opening up to another option that could resonate with you. This is an introduction to a short meditation with limited movement.

Good morning.

Thank you for joining me today and thank you for taking this time for yourself.

New beginnings.

Smile,

Breathe,

And move.

There are a significant number of scientific studies that support the mind-body spiritual connection,

Particularly how exercise impacts our thinking.

There are a plethora of mind,

Body,

And spiritual therapies now being implemented in hospital,

Fitness,

Wellness,

And yoga centers.

What we eat,

What we think,

How we exercise,

And even our postures impact our mental state,

Whether it be positively or negatively.

Spiritual,

Meditation,

And or religious connections can assist us in healing or just being well in our bodies.

Dr.

James Gordon states it best,

All the major organs of our body and all the emotional responses we have share a common chemical language and all are in constant communication with each other.

So in essence the body affects the mind which in turn impacts the body and the mind.

We can find our meditation and or spiritual connection in exercise.

Meditation does not always imply that you must be in a seated position.

That is one very effective way.

Obviously yoga,

Movement,

And basically all forms of exercise can also become a form of meditation.

However today in our limited capacity our meditation can be either seated or standing but with plenty of room for you to move your arms and body as you choose.

Let us begin.

Make sure you are in a comfortable position,

Either seated or standing.

Close your eyes.

Let's take a deep breath.

Fill up your lungs all the way down to your belly button.

Feel your tummy expand as well as your chest all the way up to your clavicle.

Exhale slowly through your mouth.

Do this again and now extend your arms upward toward the sky.

Look up and smile to the universe.

You may place your hands in position and exhale bringing them to your third eye chakra located between your eyebrows.

Pause.

Breathe.

Connect.

Focus here in what is often called your mind's eye.

Bring your hands down to your solar plexus right in between your chest,

Right in the middle of your chest.

Think of someone that you love or a place or a pet and smile.

Feel love.

Feel gratitude into your heart and let that flow into the rest of your body.

Breathe.

Focus.

Think of your loved one.

Think of that place.

Think of your pet.

Once again take a deep breath.

Lift your arms.

Lift your chin.

Lift your chest to the sky and smile and breathe.

Pause and exhale with a sigh and bring your arms down either in prayer or in wing position.

Squeeze your back and roll your shoulders back.

Feel your muscles contract in your upper back.

Release.

Place your hands across your chest either in prayer position or right over left.

Allow yourself.

Feel love,

Gratitude,

And peace in just these few moments of movement.

You've connected to your body with your breath and pause.

Thank you for doing this short exercise with me and for connecting with yourself and your body.

Smile.

Breathe.

Move.

Be a peaceful change in the universe.

Namaste.
