This story is about the Little Mermaid and she is having a swim on the surface of the sea.

Let's go and meet her.

Hello Adventure Tellers.

I'm the Little Mermaid and I've come up to the very top of the surface to explore life outside of the water.

Oh it's dark this evening but the moon is lighting up and the twinkling of the stars.

Oh what's this?

Fireworks?

Big huge bursting fireworks?

Oh and a pirate ship?

Is it a pirate ship?

I've heard about ships and cannons and gunpowder and treasure and err.

But this,

This looks like a royal ship.

Oh it's the kingship.

But I don't see a king,

I see a prince.

Oh he's gorgeous but oh no there's a storm kicking up and they don't realise.

I must go and help them.

But how without them seeing me?

Oh for the king will be so angry with me.

My king?

The Mermaid King?

Oh but I cannot let these people go into peril,

Especially that prince.

Come on everybody help me.

Let's go.

The ship that Ariel the Little Mermaid spotted is the prince's and he's having a birthday celebration.

But Ariel I think you're right.

There's a storm coming.

Well a fine birthday party this turned out to be men.

I'm sorry to bring you out to sea to celebrate.

And now we've hit rough seas on our way back.

Cutting.

It's so rough I'm holding on to the pole at the top.

The wind's got right round me.

Maybe the sea and the wind wanted to blow your birthday candles out.

I'm glad you've still got a sense of humor men.

Come on let's try and get back to shore before these waves try to bring us down.

Ah but cutting.

We've had all sorts try to pull our boat down into sea.

Ah we've had sea urchins yes.

We've had sharks,

We've had whales.

We've even had pirates.

We can get through a bit of water and a bit of wind.

Oh men thank you.

Oh but cutting I'm sorry I think I can see lightning.

Right then men I'll steer this ship back if you can fasten the sails.

Yes hold on tight then.

This could be our last sail or our best sail ever.

Oh I don't know cutting there's a great big lightning coming and it's crashing into us.

The prince has fallen overboard.

Ariel where are you?

He needs saving.

Swim swim swim keep swimming.

Swim swim swim keep swimming.

Oh oh no oh I don't feel like I'm getting anywhere closer to the shore.

Swim my arms are getting so tired swim.

Oh oh look great some driftwood.

I can just get onto the driftwood.

Oh oh if I just rest my head here maybe the driftwood will get me to shore.

Children it's the prince.

Let's help him.

He's on the driftwood.

All I have to do is swim.

Get my fin to move really fast my big tail fin and get him back to shore.

Oh come on children kick kick kick kick kick kick kick.

Kick your legs kick kick kick kick kick kick kick.

And let's get the prince back to shore kick kick kick.

But here's a big wave.

I have to keep him at the top of the waves because if I take him down he'll drown.

Kick kick kick.

Oh I hope he doesn't see that I'm a princess.

Kick kick kick kick.

Once I get him to shore I'll dive back into the water.

I'm sure it'll be fine.

Kick kick kick kick.

Here we are onto the sand.

Quick quick quick.

Oh thank goodness she saved the prince and has left him lying on the beach.

Adventure tellers thanks to your help we've got the prince back back to dry land and he's safe.

I've just left him on the beach.

Yes in the brilliant sunshine that should warm him.

I just hope somebody finds him soon.

Oh he's standing up.

He's brushing the sand off him.

Oh and he's taking the seaweed out of his hair.

Oh and he's got a crab that's hanging off his trousers.

Oh he's managed to get the crab off.

Oh he's scratching his head.

He looks a bit confused.

Oh I wish I could go over and tell him what happened and how I saved him.

If only if I had legs I could.

Oh he's starting to walk up the beach.

He's stopped.

He's turning round.

He's looking right at me.

Oh he's running down the beach.

Oh children adventure tellers what shall I do?

He mustn't see me.

My mermaid King he'll be so angry with me.

Humans aren't meant to know about mermaids.

We're just fairy tales.

He mustn't know that we're ill.

I'll have to just dive back into the water.

I'll blow him a kiss first.

Goodbye sweet prince.

I fear I will never see you again.

The little mermaid dived back into the sea and swam off.

But the further she got from the prince the sadder she felt.

She really wanted to meet him.

She decided the best way to do that was to become human.

There was only one person under the sea who could do that and that was Ursula the sea witch.

Oh I don't think you should go there little mermaid.

But she sets off in secret to go to the sea witch's cave.

Keep swimming children come on.

Oh no there's a big shadow casting across us.

It must be Whale.

Alright listen if Whale asks us where we are going we're going to say that we're off to get some seaweed okay.

Alright here she comes.

Hi Whale.

Hello mermaid and chums.

Where are you going?

Oh we're off to get some seaweed.

Oh yummy seaweed I'll come.

Oh no it's okay.

It's okay.

Oh don't be sad we'll bring you some won't we children.

Oh that'd be lovely.

Yes we'll bring you some and I'm sure you'll like it.

Oh here's a joke.

Why did the sea blush?

I don't know.

Why did the sea blush?

Because the seaweed.

Err that's not very funny.

I think it's hilarious.

Oh well I'll leave you to your jokes.

Bye bye.

Well that was good actually.

Glad you didn't like our jokes.

Right keep swimming.

So the little mermaid swims inside the cave to go and visit the sea witch.

Hello there little mermaid.

The youngest princess of the sea.

Does your father know that you've come to visit me?

No of course he doesn't because he would be so angry with you.

You would be forever forbidden to go up to the shore.

Oh young love.

For I know what it is that you're here for.

You want a pair of legs so that you can go to your handsome prince.

Well I will grow out of these legs and not in exchange for a terrible joke.

No no no you can keep that.

Instead I want your beautiful singing voice.

Yes.

And if I put your voice then nobody has to deal with any of your silly jokes anymore.

This is my offer.

Yes.

You really have no choice but to go for it.

How can I give you my voice if I want to speak to the prince?

Oh well you'll just have to make do with your looks and your charm.

Oh but I need to tell him I love him.

Oh well he'll have to fall in love with you.

You won't be able to tell him.

Your actions will have to do the trick.

Your looks and your love to win him over.

This is what I wish for the exchange.

For a pair of legs for three days.

And after the three days if he has not fallen in love with you then I will have your voice forever.

And you will live in this cave with me.

Okay you can have it.

You can have my voice.

But I know the prince will love me.

Ah well you better start singing.

La la la la la la la.

The sea witch has taken the little mermaid's voice.

Now she's swimming to the shore as quickly as she can.

She's made it.

But she can't say anything.

And yes the prince is coming in the distance.

I hope she can get his attention.

Whoa boy.

Whoa steady steady.

Did we just gallop past?

The most beautiful beautiful woman I've ever seen.

We did?

Well I must go back for her.

Yes I must gallop back for that beautiful beautiful woman.

Oh but she can't speak.

Well I'll put her on the back of my horse and take her to the palace and we will help her get her voice back.

Yes she looks cold.

She's probably hungry.

That's what it is.

She'll be in shock.

I'll get her on the back of my horse and I'll get her to help me piece together.

How I arrived back here safely after my ship was wrecked on my birthday.

Yes and how and how it's so that she looks like the angel that saved me and brought me to this very beach.

Right let's go get her.

Come on.

Tally ho.

The prince took the little mermaid.

So she looks human now.

Back to his palace.

They lived there for three days and they grew closer and closer.

First he takes her to his palace and shows her to her room.

Says stay however long you need.

And that night he takes her to the fairground.

Look at the lights.

On the second day they take in dinner and a show.

Oh prince you know how to treat a girl.

And on the third day they take in a beautiful sunset on the beach.

Wow.

How beautiful.

Oh and they started to fall in love.

But the sea witch she's been watching them.

Crystal ball.

Crystal ball.

Crystal ball.

Show me.

Show me.

Show me the princess.

Princess mermaid.

Oh the prince is falling in love with her.

I must swim up and bewitch the prince.

I don't want him falling in love with her.

I want that mermaid to live with me.

I want to keep her voice and her father will want to come and rescue her.

Yes the king.

The king will want to come and save his little mermaid.

And if I do so.

He will have to give up his role throne and give it to me.

Yes and I will become queen of the sea.

Right up to the surface I go.

And to make a prince fall in love with me don't you know.

Look out little mermaid.

Here I come.

So the sea witch swims up to the surface and turns herself into a beautiful woman.

Watch out little mermaid.

You all know who I am don't you.

But you can't tell the little mermaid can you.

Because you're all at home.

I am the sea witch.

And I have come up to shore.

Yes to make that prince marry me instead of the little mermaid.

Yes she's been here for three nights.

And in my crystal ball I've seen them dancing together.

Eating together.

Walking together.

And he is falling in love with her.

But I will put him under a trough.

Yes and he will fall in love with me.

And before the sun sets tonight we will be married.

All I have to do is sing.

Sing to the sweet prince and he will come to me.

And we will board the ship and be married.

Oh where is he?

Goodness me I can't keep this up all day.

But time's running out.

Oh it's my princess.

It's my princess.

It's whiling.

He's coming.

Oh my princess.

Will you marry me?

I thought you would never ask.

Quick let's go get married.

Oh I want to get married with the sea.

Whatever you wish for.

You are the woman that saved me.

Oh that's what he thinks.

Come.

The sea witch and the prince they arrange their marriage.

All to happen right away.

They get ready and they get onto the prince's ship and sail off into the sunset.

And the little mermaid she finds out too late.

She has to watch them sail away from the shore.

Well little princess.

I am going to marry your prince.

And here we are.

Sitting on the beautiful ship.

And you can't reach us.

Not only can you not speak.

You can't swim without your tail.

Just because the little mermaid doesn't have a tail doesn't mean she can't swim.

She jumps into the sea and is helped by all her sea creature friends.

The whale or the octopus and all her other friends.

They carry her to the ship and she climbs aboard as she confronts the sea witch.

Oh my goodness.

Children look what's happened to the sea witch.

She's not a person anymore.

You're all far too late.

Any little plan that you might have now will not succeed against me the evil witch.

Yes for I have turned myself into a huge squid.

I'm five times the size of a football pitch.

Oh your darling daughter.

Your royal prince.

King.

Highness.

Whatever you think you might be now.

Well you'll never see your bride.

Yes which means you'll never see your daughter.

Oh she has lost her voice and she will now be swept up and pulled down with the ship here to the bottom of the sea.

Where she will become my slave and I will have her singing voice forever.

Oh and look here's her beloved.

Oh the groom.

I'll take him too.

Yes a water tornado will suck him down.

It's all too late.

Oh what are you doing King?

What are you doing?

Oh don't turn me into a calamari.

Hooray.

The little mermaid's dad the king of the sea has defeated the sea witch.

Oh now maybe the little mermaid and the prince can live happily ever after.

Oh little mermaid what's happened?

Oh oh my darling sisters.

Now that the sea witch has been turned into calamari her spell has worn off and that means I have my tail back.

Oh I do love you sisters but I'm in love with the prince and he loves me.

What's that?

Oh my sisters the mermaids have murmured into my ears that father has forgiven me and wants me to be happy.

And that means father will cast a spell and I will have my legs back.

Oh my darling sisters this is such a great day.

Oh could you help me swim back to shore?

I don't know how to swim with legs yet.

Look children I'm back with the prince and I've got my voice back because the sea witch she dropped this spell and I caught it.

And now I have my voice back which means I can marry my prince.

Thank you everybody.

Oh you're all invited to the wedding.

I do hope you like calamari because we're going to be having that for our wedding dinner.

So the prince and the little mermaid they got married they lived happily ever after.

And that's the story of the little mermaid.

Thank you for joining us everybody.

We'll see you next time.

Bye.
