Namaste and welcome to the Spirit Rooms daily podcast,
In the Flow with Laurie Albert,
Where we discuss spirituality,
Meditate,
And allow positivity to envelop every aspect of our souls.
Welcome.
So this last week was kind of life lessening.
Don't you love my words?
It's like I call them,
Um,
Laurie speak because I just sometimes make up words.
Anyway,
Um,
Yeah,
I feel like it's been a week of lessons,
Like good lessons,
Growth lessons,
All of that.
And because I'm a,
I think about stuff like I take,
I don't just like let things happen.
I take things to another level,
Which is why I thought a podcast is kind of the,
Probably the way to go here.
But anyway,
So what happened was I got dissed,
Like by some people who I thought were close to me.
I'm not going to get into the whole story of it because that's kind of not the important part.
Um,
I thought they were my friends.
Has that ever happened to you?
You know,
You feel like you know somebody or people and then something happens and it's surprises to a certain degree and saddens you and then you realize and then you start thinking about it and you realize you misjudged the whole situation.
You misjudged your,
Their energy.
You misjudged their energy.
That's where I went.
Right?
So obviously this is what happened to me.
But here are the lessons that I actually learned.
Okay.
Um,
And there are two lessons because you know,
That's how I roll.
I don't think of anything just in,
In a singular terms I guess.
Okay.
So number one,
Long time ago,
The book changed my life,
Truly changed my life was the four agreements and um,
The number two agreement that Don Miguel Ruiz talks about is don't take anything personally because when something happens and it affects you in your head,
Somebody says something to you,
Somebody disses you,
Somebody does this or somebody does that.
It's about them.
It's not about you.
So why take it personally?
The person or people that do something to you or,
Or seemingly do something to you,
It's actually about them,
Not about me.
Exactly.
This book is called the four agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz.
Life changing.
Anyway,
So that's the lesson number one that I learned freeing in itself.
Okay.
However,
The other lesson that I learned was this,
Surrendering to spirit.
Oh my gosh.
I mean,
When you put these two lessons together,
It's just,
Okay,
I get it.
You know,
You can move on.
Now if we learn to surrender to spirit,
All of this junk that we carry with us,
All of the things that happened to us that make us sad or heavy or question ourselves.
I mean,
We all have stuff that happens sometimes even on a daily basis.
If you're dealing with the public a lot or whatever,
It makes you question yourself,
Question who you are.
And it creates heaviness.
Surrendering is where the true power is.
Surrender.
I was feeling really heavy when this whole little thing happened.
And like I said,
This is the moment that I was,
I was feeling really heavy when this whole little thing happened.
And like I said,
The situation itself,
I'm not going to explain it cause it doesn't really matter.
But I actually sat with the thing.
Normally I get past things pretty quick because I have those tools,
You know,
Like I know to surrender.
I know about the,
The four agreements,
Blah,
Blah,
Blah.
But I sat with this for a little longer than I normally do.
Right.
And I was in a situation and what happened was I realized,
And okay,
So I don't mean to sound dramatic about this,
But it truly kind of was like a lightning bolt.
Both of these lessons,
Don't take it personally and surrender.
Surrender to spirit because they're,
They both kind of mesh with each other.
Right.
I got these at the same time and that's why I'm sharing this with you guys,
That's it's perfect alignment.
This is partially why I love meditation so much.
When we clear our minds and we sit in the stillness of meditation and silence,
If you can,
It can help you to begin to clear away that voice in your head that takes it personally,
That makes you feel less than,
And then it allows spirit to come forward and teach us that we are,
Here's the kicker,
Spiritual beings having a human experience and not the other way around.
I feel like I'm supposed to say that again.
Spirit's like,
Say that again.
We are spiritual beings,
Having a human experience.
And when we get this to further that,
When we get that we are spiritual beings having a human experience,
We can get to a place where compassion can set in.
I know it's like a whole process,
Right?
When we get to that place where compassion sets in,
Compassion for ourselves,
Compassion for maybe the other people in this situation that makes you feel kind of lousy or whatever.
So I won't lie.
I was in a place of hurt.
Yeah.
You know,
I mean,
Human experience,
My human experience for that moment was a place of hurt.
I'll be honest.
There was actually two situations,
But they both,
And it was like,
I was supposed to,
I was supposed to have a place of hurt.
I was supposed to have a place of hurt.
And it was like,
I was supposed to have that happen so that I could see the perspective in a different way.
And you want to hear the kicker?
Kind of happened on my birthday too.
Or a day before,
You know,
That sort of thing.
I mean,
It was like,
Seriously,
Bring it on.
Do you want me to learn a lesson?
Come on,
Bring it on.
All right.
Now I admit I'm sensitive.
I get that.
I always have been.
That's the empath in me.
I own it.
But like I said,
Once I was able to sit in the,
Sit in the emotion of this,
The state of surrender to spirit,
I began to understand that,
You know what,
We're all just trying to make it in this world.
Don't you think?
Taking it to a place of compassion.
We all have crappy things.
And we'll say the other word.
We all have crappy things that we're dealing with in our lives.
And sometimes we say,
I do.
Of course I say things.
I never in a million years would want to hurt somebody,
But things come out of my mouth.
Oh,
Things come out of my mouth.
Right?
More than half my life.
I've been trying to like learn all this stuff.
And that's why,
You know,
I can take some time to sit in it.
I learned you have to sit in it and then just give it over,
Give it over and say,
You know what?
And once you get to that weird sort of place of compassion after you feel the hurt,
It's like,
Whoa.
And then you move on with your life.
I've got the best after me.
I've got the best affirmation today.
So let's sit with ourselves.
Let's get comfortable.
Close your eyes.
We're just going to sit for a few minutes to get us feeling the affirmation.
Okay,
So close your eyes.
Let's take a deep breath in.
Release.
Beautiful.
So as we sit in the stillness for a minute,
Just a few,
Let's place our attention on our heart chakra,
The energy portal that is about love,
Love for ourselves,
Love for others,
And love for the world.
And let's take a deep breath in.
Let's let ourselves,
Love for others and love for the world.
Place your attention in that chakra,
Imagining that beautiful ball of green light spinning.
Our affirmation for today.
Mantra affirmation.
My struggles do not define me.
I am defined by my strength.
My struggles do not define me.
I am defined by my strength.
As we say this affirmation mantra over and over,
Take it to your heart.
Allow yourself to feel that in your heart.
My struggles do not define me.
I am defined by my strength.
And if you want to add a little bit more emphasis,
Maybe put your hands over your heart.
And let's sit in the stillness for just a few minutes.
I will keep the time.
Let's begin.
My struggles do not define me.
I am defined by my strength.
I am defined by my strength.
My struggles do not define me.
I am defined by my strength.
My struggles do not define me.
I am defined by my strength.
You can start bringing your awareness back to your bodies,
Knowing that you can take this affirmation with you all day long to feel your strength and remind yourself that you are defined by your strength.
Let's take a deep breath in and release it.
Namaste.
