If You Think You Can, You Will!
by Lauri Albert
Henry Ford famously said “Whether you think you can, or you think you can't – you're right,” What do YOU think? My dear friend, Pierre Bensusan, has permitted me to use his track called ‘Sentimentales Pyromaniaques’ from the album 'Altiplanos'.

I love that story of the little engine that could,
Right?
Do you guys remember that story?
It's about this big long freight train that got stuck just as it was ready to go over the mountain and all these like all of these like they asked all of these trains,
These big trains,
You know,
And they said,
Can you help push it over the mountain?
And everybody said no,
No,
No.
Finally they asked this little train and he said,
I think I can,
Right?
So that was the whole thing.
He kept saying,
I think I can,
I think I can,
I think I can.
And then finally when he got closer to pushing it or pushing it over in the mountain,
He started with,
I know I can,
I know I can.
And you know it's just funny because I those little stories,
Boy,
If if we only taught those types of stories to all the kids in school,
Now I know that or I think that they teach that now,
You know,
To these kids,
To the kids in school.
I am pretty sure you know those types of stories.
However,
Can you imagine if they taught just constantly stories of motivation to kids,
Stories of stories of I know I can do that,
You know.
And it just amazes me because I feel like,
And of course I had learned that from somewhere,
Right?
But boy,
If I had learned that when I was a kid,
You know,
If I had learned that more so when I was a kid,
I wonder if my life would be different now.
You know?
And it's just really fascinating to me,
It's just really fascinating to me that that those types of stories make such an impact.
Now why would I remember that story?
You know,
Like why would we remember that specific story?
Because it was,
It gave us motivation,
It gave us hope,
It gave us,
It gave us inspiration,
Right?
So we remember that story,
At least I do,
Remember that story because it gave me that.
I don't remember all the other stories out there,
Right?
I don't remember all those other stories,
Well I'm sure I remember some,
But you know,
I don't remember all those other stories that were like,
You know,
Silly,
Right?
I remember the one that gave me inspiration and you know I can't help it but think,
We're like that,
Right?
People remember you if you inspire them.
People,
People,
Um,
People want to be inspired and motivated and can you imagine if we did that to each other,
For each other?
Can you imagine if we were the inspiration for other people?
It's kind of like,
And I talk about this all the time,
I know,
But um it's kind of like the ripple effect,
You know?
It's like the pay it forward thing,
You know?
What if we could spread inspiration and motivation?
How beautiful would our world be,
You know?
And to further that about,
And I know I'm backtracking now,
But further that story about,
You know,
With young kids,
Can you imagine if they taught meditation in schools,
You know?
I was taught prayer,
I was raised,
I was raised Catholic and I was taught prayer,
But it was a set prayer,
You know?
It was like our Father or Hail Mary or whatever like that.
It wasn't like a freeform thing,
You know?
Or at least not that I remember anyway,
Right?
But can you imagine if everybody was taught,
All these young kids were taught,
To just sit in the quiet,
Oh my gosh,
For even two minutes?
How much more peaceful they would be as kids?
Hmm.
There's just all those would-ifs,
Right?
But so here's my thing,
You know?
I thought to myself,
Because I'm really big on affirmations and that sort of thing,
Right?
And it's really fascinating to me whenever I think about what can my affirmation for today be,
Right?
It could be.
I think I can.
I think I can.
I know I can.
I know I can do that.
You know,
I have been having this,
I'm working on this project,
Right?
And I'm having these moments of,
I'm just,
I have these moments of like,
I've got this,
Right?
I can do this,
Right?
Then I have these moments of,
Oh my god,
What did I do?
What did I get myself into?
Kind of thing.
And it's just,
That's my affirmation for today is,
I know I can.
I invite you to take that on today,
Right?
So guess what our mantra is gonna be for today?
So let's get ourselves comfortable because I want to meditate on this,
Okay?
We're gonna meditate on this.
We're gonna meditate on this and we're gonna pay it forward today.
We're gonna be the motivation for somebody else.
Isn't that great?
I love that.
Okay,
So let's get ourselves comfortable and close your eyes whenever it feels right for you.
Now let's take a nice,
Slow,
Deep breath in through your nose and then we're gonna hold it and then we're gonna breathe out,
Okay?
So take a deep breath in,
Hold it and release.
Oh how I love doing that.
So one more time,
Let's take a nice deep breath in and release.
So,
Question for today.
What makes you happy?
What makes you happy in your life?
Is there something,
Is there something in going on in your life that makes you happy?
Or something that comes to mind,
Like a blizzard from Dairy Queen?
Don't ask me where that came from.
Or just sitting with family,
Hanging out with family.
What makes you happy?
And you know what I love about these questions?
There's no wrong answer.
It can be whatever,
It's so personal.
It can be whatever you want it to be.
There's no right answer,
There's no wrong answer.
It just is.
So now as we get ready to sit in the quiet for just a minute,
Our mantra for today is,
I know I can.
I know I can.
I know I can.
So I will keep the time and let's begin repeating the affirmation.
I know I can.
I know I can.
I know I can.
I know I can.
I know I can.
I know I can.
I know I can.
I know I can.
I know I can.
I know I can.
Let's start bringing our awareness back to our bodies.
We can release the mantra,
I know I can.
Knowing that it's right there anytime we need it.
Let's take a final deep breath in and release.
Feeling that motivation that we can do anything when we know we can.
You can open your eyes whenever you feel comfortable.
I just,
I had a smile on my face that entire time.
It was really fun.
I love doing,
I love being motivated first thing in the morning because when you're motivated right at the beginning of the day,
You just,
It takes you,
It can take you through the rest of the day even when stuff gets thrown at you,
You know.
So thank you guys so much for joining.
Thank you for joining.
From my heart to yours,
Namaste.
Have a great day.
