A 10-minute guided practice harnessing the energies of the New Moon. The practice is taken into the Yoga Pose of Balasana, which represents a drawing in, the darkness of the new moon. This meditation guides you through the process of Letting Go, Connecting to Your Intuition and Intention Setting for the next Lunar Cycle.

Hi,

This is Laura and today I'd like to guide you through a meditation that is based on harnessing the energies of the new moon and the lunar cycle.

So traditionally meditation is often done seated.

Today I'd like to ask you to begin in a yoga pose if it's comfortable but if not don't worry you can be seated on a chair or cross-legged.

But if you would like to we're going to come into the yoga pose of child's pose.

So for this come on to kneeling all fours.

Then bringing your feet together and your knees a little bit wide apart in the shape of a V.

Draw your hips back down towards your heels so that you're almost sitting on your heels.

Lower your body down towards the floor,

Bringing your forehead to rest on the floor or a pillow if that's more comfortable.

You can extend your arms straight out in front of you or have them behind you.

When you have found this position child's pose Balasana please close your eyes.

If you need to make any subtle adjustments to be more comfortable go ahead listen to your body.

Now in this shape bring your awareness to your breath,

Gently deepening and lengthening both your inhalation and your exhalation.

So you can feel the rise and fall of the breath in your belly.

Maybe noticing as you inhale the belly expands out towards your thighs slightly.

As you exhale the belly softens.

Stay focusing on your breath.

I tell you a little bit about harnessing the energy of the new moon.

So this pose child's pose represents a drawing in the darkness of the new moon.

So when the moon is new we see it as the time of the no moon,

The dark,

The nothing.

The opposite to that brightness of the full moon.

So in this pose of child's pose please allow yourself to really draw in.

Notice the darkness of your eyes closed,

Head down towards the ground.

A feeling of disconnecting from everything around you and being this simple little seed of a shape of child's pose.

Imagine yourself as this tiny little seed.

See if you can visualize this seed buried in the darkness of the earth as if the seed of a spring bulb buried beneath the ground.

Right now you are hibernating.

You are drawing in.

You are building your strength.

Stay present with your breath.

Visualize darkness,

The dark night sky,

The no moon,

No stimulus,

Simplicity,

Darkness.

As you stay in this space,

We're going to inhale and think the word let.

Exhale go.

Inhale let.

Exhale go.

Inhale let.

Exhale go.

Completely letting go.

As you hibernate in the darkness of the no moon.

And in this space,

In this seed shape of child's pose,

Ask yourself,

Ask your intuition right now,

Right here.

What seed would you like to sow in the next lunar cycle?

And simply the next four weeks,

What do you desire to manifest,

To grow?

As you nourish this seed,

This seed of you,

Right here,

Right now with your breath.

Taking one more breath here in child's pose,

Here in this seed.

Then on your next inhale,

Keeping your eyes closed,

Rise up to seated,

Be it kneeling or cross-legged.

Take a moment to settle yourself in this new position.

Bring your awareness down to your sitting bones and imagine you're sending roots from your sitting bones down into that earth,

Still connected with this seed buried deep in the dark ground.

But now,

Wavelength through your spine,

Feeling the rising energy coming up from the ground,

Rising up through your spine.

Feel a rising up through the crown of your head,

As if a rising up to the sky,

To the stars above you.

And now bring to mind the tiniest slither of a moon,

Tiniest crescent slither.

Connect to your breath once more and imagine that you're breathing in this slither of moon.

Exhale with a sigh.

As we sit in this stillness under the slither of the new moon,

This is the time to connect to what you wish to manifest,

To what you wish to call forth in this next lunar cycle.

Whatever has come to mind,

Don't judge it.

Just see it.

Maybe it's a feeling,

Maybe it's a project,

Whatever.

Place the essence of that as if between the point of your eyebrows,

Place the feeling,

The visualization right there.

Keeping your eyes closed,

Just funnel your gaze towards the point between your eyebrows,

The place of intuition,

Of insight,

The energies of the new moon.

Connect with the breath.

Whatever has bubbled up for you in this practice,

See it now as if it is the truth,

As if it is real,

As if it is happening.

I want you to create an affirmation,

A positive phrase as if this thing is real.

It might be,

Say you wish to be feeling more energy,

I am energized.

Whatever has bubbled up that you want to manifest,

Silently repeat that as an affirmation in your mind right now as if it is true,

As if it is already happening.

Now we're going to sit for one minute longer,

Staying present with the breath,

Visualizing the slither of the new moon and holding in your heart what it is you desire to manifest.

I'm going to stay here right with you and I'll tell you when it's time to come out.

Taking a deeper inhalation now.

Once again,

Sigh out the exhalation.
