Welcome to this yoga nidra practice,
My name is Laura and I will be guiding you on a journey inward through the seen and unseen layers of your humanness.
This journey is intended to carry you beyond the realm of your thinking mind and deep into your inner world,
Arriving at your home frequency of pure divine joy.
Set up a cozy and supportive nest for yourself today,
Inviting stillness and deep relaxation into the body throughout this practice.
You may want to dim the lights in the place that you're in and as you lay yourself down you might like to tuck yourself in with a blanket and prop your knees with a pillow or a bolster,
Allowing the thigh bones to sink back into the hip sockets,
Signaling rest to the nervous system.
You may also like to cover your eyes.
Whatever it is you're sensing that you need to feel completely held and at ease,
Take a moment to tend to it and start to settle into your nest now,
Making any last minor adjustments to ensure you are the most comfortable you can possibly be.
This is your time for rest.
Before we begin,
Set the intention to remain aware throughout this practice.
You will find that the effects of yoga nidra may lull your body into a state of slumber.
This is perfect.
At the same time,
Try and commit to consciously follow the guidance of my voice.
The fusion of the two,
Body asleep,
Awareness present is ideal.
No,
Please don't worry if you do fall asleep.
Whatever the experience will be,
It is yours and you can trust that it is exactly what you need today.
Welcome stillness into the body now and start to tune into your breath.
Visualize breathing in through the soles of your feet,
Observing as the breath streams upward all the way to the top of your head.
Hold here for three and let it go through the mouth.
Breathe like that two more times,
Slow,
Abundant breath in through the soles of your feet,
Letting the current of your breath carry the gift of vital life force into every little nook of your being.
Hold for three at the top of your inhale.
And gently release through the mouth with the sigh if that feels good.
Feeling every last bit of tension inside your body slowly ease away.
Letting go of manipulating the breath now,
You allow the natural rhythm of your inhales and exhales in its place until your breath becomes effortless.
Begin to sense your body in the space that you're in,
Becoming aware of the physical boundaries of your body and then feeling into the space around it.
And tuning in closely you may notice a subtle pulsation right at the edge of your skin where you in space meet in energetic communication.
Perceive now the parts of your body touching the ground beneath you,
The heels,
Pelvis,
Shoulders and back of the head.
Now imagine the ground beneath you is the soft and spongy part right in the center of a giant sunflower in full bloom.
This moss-like center offering the most heavenly of sanctuaries,
Away from a world bound by time and responsibilities.
Hundreds of small yellow,
Purple and brown flowers packed tightly together,
Gently hugging the entirety of your back body from head to heels.
Its longer golden and yellow petals forming a protective shelter around this sublime sunflower bed.
As you lay here at the heart of its petals,
Imagine glorious nourishing rays of morning light gently penetrating your skin,
Replenishing every single cell in your body with an abundance of vitamin D.
As your face and body soften with increasing warmth,
You feel the weight of your heels release down even more,
Your hips,
Head and shoulders all sinking in deep into the soothing sphere of this majestic sunflower.
Relishing in the softness of your body and the vibrancy of a sunflower,
You feel yourself smiling at the sun as it bathes you in its almighty warmth.
With the gentleness of a sunflower petal,
Gather your awareness at the center of your chest and slightly over and to the left,
The residence of your magnificent heart beating in loving service of your human existence day in and day out.
In honor of its divinity,
It is protected by a sacred shrine.
As you arrive at the shrine of your heart,
Allow some time for your heart to open to presence with it there.
When you feel your heart ready to receive you in the home,
Move in closer and if not,
That's okay,
You can remain here at the sacred shrine of your heart.
Wherever you settle in or around your heart,
Offer your deep felt gratitude for all it has done for you today.
You may let your eyes speak their language of gratefulness with a soft and loving gaze or you may whisper silently,
Thank you,
I love you.
Here in the heart is where we begin the practice of yoga nidra and from this place of reverence for your heart,
Allow your sankalpa to arise if you already have a sankalpa invited into your practice now.
If you are not familiar with sankalpa,
It is a deep inner knowing that reflects your heart's truest desire.
It is not something outside of you,
Not something you get or achieve.
Translated sankalpa means truth,
Vow and this truth exists as a seed within you but may be covered up by stories,
Beliefs or patterns that try to convince you otherwise.
So you may use your sankalpa as an intention for liberating yourself from that which is not true.
What is your most heartfelt desire right now?
An insight might appear in the form of words or perhaps sensations or symbols.
Try and formulate what is arising into a positive I am statement.
It can be as simple as I am free.
I am here to play.
I am deeply connected to my joy.
When you have your sankalpa,
Infuse it into your practice by repeating it at least three times,
Silently to yourself with sincerity.
Using the petal of a sunflower,
We will softly ignite the essence of this truth to flourish within.
I will name different body parts and as this sunflower petal moves along in your consciousness with my guidance,
It embeds little seeds of golden light in those places.
Imagine the sunflower petal resting at your heart center now,
Planting its first little seed of golden light right in the center of your chest.
Now follow as it moves up to your brow center,
Over to your right temple and down your right cheek,
Leaving the little seeds of golden light on its way.
The petal now travelling to your right shoulder and the right side of your chest,
Along your torso to your right upper thigh,
All the way down your leg to your right ankle.
Now feel your whole right side sparkling with little seeds of golden light.
Follow the petal moving from your right ankle over to your left ankle now,
Up your leg to your left upper thigh and travelling to the left side of your chest,
Your left shoulder embedding little seeds of golden light all along.
The petal moving to your left cheek now and up to your left temple.
Now the petal journeys inward to the midbrain,
In the dark space between your ears,
Planting its last little seed of golden light right where your pineal and pituitary glands live.
Follow the whole left side of your body beaming with little seeds of golden light.
Now feel your whole body sparkling,
Your whole body sparkling with golden light,
Your whole body.
Feel your breath inspire each seed of light shine even brighter now.
This beautiful life affirming current further igniting the energy of every single seed of light inside your body.
Each inhale magnifying the vibrancy of light inwards as it anchors itself deeper within every cell.
Each exhale magnifying the vibrancy of light outward as your body starts to illuminate the space around you.
Feel yourself immersed in the effortless expansion of light flooding your entire body now.
Notice your whole self pulsating with light.
Your whole self.
Now envision yourself being tucked inside your soft and warm sunflower once again.
We will return to this sanctuary to rest in between as we now move into the practice of pairs of opposites.
As I name these opposites simply trust in the guidance of your heart.
What does it feel like to be stuck?
What does it feel like to be fluid?
Now you can let that go and come back to laying inside your sunflower.
Feeling the gentle pulsation of light throughout your body.
What does it feel like to contract?
What does contraction feel like for you?
What does it feel like to soften?
As you let go,
Anchor yourself back inside your sunflower.
What does it feel like to be restricted?
What does restriction feel like for you?
What does freedom feel like for you?
Returning to your sunflower bed and the steady pulsation of light from within.
Feel your whole body radiating light.
Bring into your mind now a golden frame,
Much larger than you.
The edges adorned with such delicate and exquisite detail it would have taken decades to craft.
And inside this frame time and responsibility do not exist.
The rules of society are relevant.
Instead it is alive with magic.
Any eternal moment in time unfolding right before your eyes.
The light of dawn reveals an infinite field of sunflowers inside the frame.
The air still brisk from the night before,
The sunflowers still cocooned and still asleep.
You watch the sun journey upward into the sky and the field of sunflowers slowly awaken.
One by one you witness them unfold their petals and reveal their precious hearts to the marvellous rays of the sun.
The vast field of sunflowers in full bloom now,
You know these little bodies emerging from the centre of each sunflower.
You move up close and you realise there are hundreds of versions of you awakening in light.
Hundreds of little yous unfurling,
Greeting the magic of this eternal moment.
They begin to move to the rhythm of each of their flowerbeds swaying in the warm morning breeze.
And your eyes glowing at the hundreds of mini versions of you,
Flowing,
Jumping,
Dancing to the pools of joy.
And you are reminded just how much you love to play.
So you step inside the golden frame of magic and you play.
Your ears adoring the sound of your own laughter,
Your nose smelling the fruits of your most authentic self-expression.
Your precious heart beating for all that is true within you.
You indulge yourself in joy,
So sweet,
So true,
Nothing else exists outside of it.
Alive in pure divine joy.
Alive in pure divine joy.
Alive in pure divine joy.
Alive in pure divine joy.
Alive in pure divine joy.
Alive in pure divine joy.
Alive in pure divine joy.
Alive in pure divine joy.
Alive in pure divine joy.
Remember your body,
Remember your breath.
Find yourself of your sankalpa conceived at the beginning of this practice.
Allow its essence to echo through your body as you repeat it to yourself once again three times.
Feel your entire body beaming with the light of this truth.
With gentleness and great care,
Arrive back in the space that you're in as the practice of yoga nidra is now complete.
Welcoming small movements back into your being.
Allowing the body to reawaken in its most organic way.
As you gather your senses,
You may naturally find yourself in a generous whole body stretch.
Take this time to feel into and lovingly tend to your body's needs in this very moment.
Then rolling over to one side or the other,
Draw your knees into your chest,
Curling up into your fetal position.
Hold yourself here for a moment.
Be here now.
When you're ready with your eyes closed,
Bring yourself up into a seat.
And like a sunflower,
You sit tall,
Crown reaching up toward the sun.
Enjoy permeating your every cell.
Place your left hand over your heart and your right hand on top of your left.
Bowing to your heart and to yourself,
Forgiving yourself this time to reconnect with the essence of joy alive within you.
Take a moment here to set an intention for how you'd like to move through the rest of your day.
Thank you from my heart to yours for joining me in practice today.
You are so loved.
