Hello and welcome to your 10-minute daily meditation.
Let's get started.
Go ahead and.
Find your meditation seat if you haven't already and then let your eyes close down.
Let your jaw relax.
Let your tongue relax away from the roof of your mouth.
Just start to bring your awareness to your breath.
No need to modify the breath or change it or label it or judge it.
Just notice.
In through the nose.
And out through the nose.
Start to follow your inhale.
Through your nostrils.
And all the way down deep into your belly.
You can even place a hand on the belly and just start to notice how the belly rises and falls.
With each breath in and breath out.
And with each breath,
See if you can.
Deepen that breath just a little bit more.
And notice how.
The breath expands the ribcage.
You can bring both hands to either side of the ribcage and notice how on the inhale you even expand side to side and then the exhale.
Collapse back down.
Continuing those nice deep breaths.
You.
And then noticing how that breath even expands up at the top of the chest,
So you can bring your hands up to the collarbone.
And feel the chest rise with the inhale and fall with the exhale.
You can rest the hands back down on your knees.
And with this awareness of the breath,
We're going to start our meditation with a pranayama called Vastrika Pranayama.
Also known as bellows breath.
And think of this breath as like fanning a fire.
To stoke the flame.
It's a powerful exhalation and a quick release.
Inhalation that's going to energize your body,
Focus your mind,
Can also help with digestion.
And if at any point during this pranayama you feel agitation or you feel any pain in the abdominal area,
Just stop and go back to that breath that we were just doing,
The belly,
The chest,
And the ribs.
So you'll start.
With a big breath in.
And then on your breath out,
Exhale quickly.
While engaging your abdominal muscles and pulling your navel to your spine.
Try that again.
Inhale.
Forceful exhale.
And so you'll try to engage the abdominals.
The diaphragm will lift up,
And it's forcing the air out of the nostrils.
We're going to do.
Three rounds just like that,
Seven times each round.
As you're ready,
Inhale.
And pause,
Take three easy breaths.
You.
And once again,
Inhale.
Forceful exhale.
And pause,
Three easy breaths.
And our last round,
Inhale.
Strong exhale.
Good,
Let your breath return to natural.
And just notice any effects in the body.
Maybe a sense of warming.
Thank you.
Maybe a sense of calm.
Perhaps maybe an awakeness.
And with this focus,
We'll move into our mindfulness meditation.
Keep your awareness.
On the breath.
Just noticing the sensation of that air.
Flowing in through your nostrils.
Maybe the air feels cool.
Following that breath all the way up the nostrils,
Washing over the forehead and down the spine.
Hmm.
And then noticing the sensation of your exhale out of your nostrils.
Perhaps the air is warm.
Maybe you can even feel the sensation of the air leaving your nostrils on the upper lip.
And just maintain your focus on the breath.
Let your own breathing be the most interesting thing in the world in this moment right now.
If a thought arises.
Simply acknowledge that thought.
And let it pass.
Knowing that If it's important enough,
It will come up again.
You will take care of it later.
Right now your job is to just let those thoughts pass like clouds.
Hmm.
The average human has over 53,
000 thoughts in a day.
And if we grabbed each of those thoughts and attached ourselves to them and felt the need to take an action with every thought.
We wouldn't be able to live our lives.
So in this meditation,
We're practicing.
Noticing those thoughts.
Not grasping onto them.
And just letting them continue to breeze by.
You.
I believe we're good.
Okay.
If a thought arises once again,
That's okay.
That's what our minds are meant to do.
Just simply.
Gracefully.
Kindly.
Bring your mind back to focus on your breath.
The inhale through the nostril.
And the exhale through the nostrils.
The only thing you have to do in this moment right now is breathe.
Okay.
It's just a little bugger.
Thank you so much.
Okay.
Maintaining that focus,
Bringing your mind back to the breath.
If it gets distracted by thoughts.
You.
And then slowly deepening your breath.
You can open the eyes.
Start to come back to your surroundings by looking around the room.
And.
.
.
Moving forward in your day with this focus and this energy.
If you find that during your meditation it is hard to let go of those thoughts,
It can be helpful to bring a notebook with you.
And just sit it next to your meditation cushion and you can quickly take a note.
So that you don't forget the thought and then go back to your meditation.
I hope you enjoy the rest of your day.
Thank you for meditating with me.
Namaste.
