Your brain isn't broken for having thoughts, and you are not "bad at meditation" for not controlling your thoughts. Our minds are built to think and feel, we need them to do so, and the goal of mindfulness is not to control the mind. It's to be fully aware of our minds. Kris has sat for 20+ years (rooted in Vipassana) and taught for 11. She treats meditation like a doctor treats a patient: no single medicine fits every ailment, just a cabinet of tools and the skill to know which one this moment needs. Mindfulness, metta, mantra, tong-len, visualization, walking, silent sitting, pranayama when called for — she teaches it all, and is a little bit obsessed with nervous system regulation too because she's watched it change lives, including her own. Her philosophy: control is never the point. Freedom isn't silencing your thoughts, it's realizing you're not your thinking, feeling brain; and this realization muscle needs strengthening like any other. Every sit is a deposit in the mindfulness bank, five minutes or two hours, it all counts. Kris is deeply spiritual and holds that lightly and seriously — serious about the practice, not precious about herself. All paths are welcome here. She also teaches yoga (500-RYT; Hatha, Vinyasa, Restorative), leading with safety and alignment. The real work in yoga is translation: our bodies speak in the language of sensation, and yoga is how we learn to listen to the messages. Come sit with Kris, even for five minutes. It counts. Namaste
