Hi,
My name is Jennifer Ransall Smith and This is I Refuse to Shrink,
A guided meditation for women ready to use their voice.
I want to welcome you.
And I really appreciate you being here because there's so many other places you can be.
And the fact that you chose here to be here with me,
I am truly honored.
As we get started,
I want you to take a deep breath.
Breathe in and exhale slowly.
I want you to allow your shoulders to soften.
Let's relax your jaw.
I want you to unclench your hands.
You might not have even realized the tension you're carrying throughout your body.
Let's take another deep breath.
As you exhale,
Allow yourself to arrive.
Fully.
In this moment.
There's nothing to fix.
There is nothing to prove.
And honestly,
There's nowhere else to be.
Just you breathing.
Present.
Aware.
And ready.
Today we're gonna talk about something that few people discuss.
The fear that comes with taking up space.
The fear that comes with speaking up.
The fear that comes when you know you should say something.
But every part of you wants to remain silent.
Because silence feels safer,
In all honesty.
Silence feels familiar.
Silence allows you to avoid conflict.
Silence allows you to avoid rejection.
Silence allows you to avoid being misunderstood.
For many women,
Silence becomes a survival strategy.
Not because you lacked intelligence,
Not because you lack opinions.
Not because you lack strength.
But because somewhere along the way,
You learned that speaking up carried consequences.
Maybe you watched women being criticized for being too direct.
Too emotional.
Too ambitious,
Too assertive,
Just too much,
Too,
Too,
Too everything.
Maybe you learned that being agreeable was rewarded.
That keeping the peace was valued.
More than telling the truth.
That making others comfortable mattered more.
Than honoring yourself.
And so you adapted.
You learn to shrink.
You learn to second guess yourself.
You learn to replay conversations.
In your head after they happened.
Thinking of everything you wish.
You had said.
Every boundary you wished.
You had established.
Every moment.
You wished you had chosen yourself.
Now let's take another deep breath.
I want you to feel the weight of what we just said.
Breathe in.
Oh.
Anchor into your space.
And think about the last time you let something slide.
The last time someone spoke to you in a way that just didn't sit right.
The last time someone misunderstood you.
Dismissed you?
Overlooked you.
Or crossed a boundary.
And instead of speaking up,
You convinced yourself it just wasn't worth it.
You told yourself to let it go.
You told yourself to be the bigger person.
You told yourself it.
Wasn't such a big deal.
But deep down,
Something within you knew.
You knew.
It mattered.
Not because you needed to win,
Not because you needed to be right.
But because every time you abandon your voice,
You teach yourself that your voice doesn't matter.
And that is a lesson we are no longer willing to learn.
Let's take another deep breath.
Because here's the truth.
Courage is not something people are born with.
It is not a personality trait.
It is not reserved for the loudest person in the room.
Courage is a muscle.
And muscles grow through use.
Not theory,
Not wishing,
Not waiting,
But practice.
Practice,
Practice,
Practice.
Every time you speak up,
You strengthen it.
Every time you establish a boundary,
You strengthen it.
Every time you tell the truth.
Even when your voice shakes,
You strengthen it.
Every time you advocate for yourself.
You strengthen it.
Every time you advocate for someone else.
You strengthen it.
The courageous woman is not fearless.
She is practiced.
She has simply decided that her truth is more important.
Than her comfort.
And yes,
Courage comes with a cost.
It costs comfort.
It costs approval.
It costs illusion of safety.
It costs the ability to hide.
It costs the comfort of flying under the radar.
But what it gives you in return is priceless.
You get self-respect.
Integrity.
Freedom.
Peace.
Alignment.
Power.
Let's take another deep breath.
Mm,
That felt good.
One more time.
NOW!
Imagine yourself standing taller.
Imagine your shoulders opening.
Imagine your voice becoming stronger.
Not louder,
Stronger.
Grounded.
Clear.
Certain.
Imagine becoming the woman who can be counted on.
The woman who tells the truth.
A woman who speaks with conviction.
The woman who does not abandon herself.
The woman who advocates for herself and others.
The woman who knows that her presence belongs in every room she enters.
The woman who no longer apologizes for existing.
Because taking up space is not arrogance.
It is self-respect.
Using your voice is not aggression.
It is ownership.
Being visible is not selfish.
It is responsibility.
There are people who need your wisdom.
People who need your perspective.
People who need your courage.
And every time you shrink,
They lose access to the gifts only you can provide.
So?
Today.
I want you to make a decision.
Make a decision.
Not a promise.
Not a wish,
A decision.
That from this moment forward.
You will begin practicing.
Courage.
One conversation at a time.
One boundary at a time.
One rave moment.
At a time.
Because courage can be developed at any age.
And your next chapter deserves the strongest.
Version of your voice.
NOW!
I want you to repeat these affirmations silently or aloud.
Are you ready?
Let's go.
I refuse to shrink.
My voice matters.
My perspective matters.
My truth matters.
I deserve to be heard.
I deserve to be respected.
I deserve to take up space.
I trust myself.
I felt good.
Take your hand.
Put it on your heart and pat yourself lightly like I just did.
And convince yourself of the truth.
I trust myself.
I speak with clarity.
I speak with conviction.
I speak with courage.
I do not abandon myself.
I honor my boundaries.
I honor my intuition.
I honor my wisdom.
I release the need for approval.
I release the fear of being judged.
I release the fear of being misunderstood.
Aye.
Am developing courage every day.
Aye.
And becoming stronger.
Every day.
I am becoming more confident.
Every day.
I am capable of standing alone when necessary.
I am capable of advocating for myself.
I belong in every room I enter.
I refuse to make myself smaller.
That felt good,
Didn't it?
I want you to keep your eyes closed and just think about what I'm about to say.
You're no longer gonna refuse to silence your gifts.
You're no longer going to shrink.
You're gonna step into your courageousness because you are powerful.
You are visible.
You are worthy.
And here's the most important thing I want you to recognize.
You are just getting started.
Take one final deep breath.
As you exhale,
I want you to feel that strength in your body.
Take that wisdom in your heart and the power in your voice.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes.
It's time to go practice being the woman that you admire.
Namaste.
