Putting work in public means people will judge it. In this short Stoic talk, I use Epictetus to examine what happens when other people mock your ambitions or tell you that you are on the wrong path. The useful distinction is between feedback that can improve the work and discouragement that only pulls you away from it. You cannot control whether critics approve. You can decide whether their judgement deserves a place in your own. Listen when criticism has made you doubt work that still matters to you.
