Welcome back to another episode of Mindset Reset Radio and I wanted to talk to you just for a little bit today about what I mean when I talk about living with intention.
What am I hoping that you'll get out of this and what am I hoping that you will begin doing so you can live your most epic life.
In my opinion living with intention really is about not just setting the goals but working every single day toward achieving those goals.
Because the thing is it's easy to make a plan.
It's easy to make a to-do list.
It's easy to set goals.
It's very difficult to stick with it and that's where the intentionality comes into play.
Living with intention means that you're leveraging a really incredible power that we all have innately within us and that's the power to choose.
So every day you are choosing to work toward what it is that you want and that can be anything.
That can be simply getting to a place where you've saved enough money to start looking at houses.
That could be making a huge move across the world or across the country.
It could be starting your book.
It could be simply getting yourself ready to move into your own place.
But the thing is with any and all of these goals,
These dreams,
These things that we want to achieve,
No matter how big or small they are there's an element of intentionality that needs to happen.
When we wanted to travel the world,
We had to very actively move with intention to make that happen.
There were a lot of things that had to happen before we were able to actually get on a plane and take a one-way flight across the world.
And so living with intentionality is all about leveraging that power of choice.
And when I say leverage your power of choice,
I want to give you an example because that may seem like a really simple thing.
You make thousands of choices every day.
It's not that difficult,
Right?
Just when it becomes difficult to live with intention is when you have two choices and the choice to move toward what you want is maybe not the choice you want to make.
So this is an example I give a lot that I find is a perfect way to express this sort of idea of making intentional choices,
Which is let's say that you have a really big presentation tomorrow at work.
And it's early in the morning and you really do need to get some good rest and maybe run through a few more practice runs of your presentation.
And one of your friends says,
Hey,
We're going out tonight.
We're celebrating.
So and so got a raise or a promotion and we're super excited.
You got to come out tonight.
You have to come out.
Now this is where the power of intentional choice becomes so critical because let me give you two ways that this could go.
The first way could be that you say,
Sure,
Yeah,
Hell yeah,
I'll go out,
Whatever,
Screw it.
I don't care.
You go out,
You drink,
You go to bed late,
You wake up,
You don't feel great and you don't give your best presentation.
It's fine,
But it's not your best.
So then you just stay in your job.
You keep doing the same thing you're doing and keep fighting for that promotion that you've been looking to get.
But let's say and the other scenario is that you don't go out.
You say,
You know what,
I really would love to,
Let's celebrate this weekend.
I have a really important presentation tomorrow.
I want to make sure that I get good sleep and I actually need to run through it a few more times.
So like total FOMO,
But I can't come.
The next day you wake up,
You're super refreshed,
You're ready to go do that presentation and you kill it.
You absolutely nail it.
You hit it out of the park.
Every possible analogy for doing a great job and then a week later you get that promotion you've been looking for because you did so well on that presentation.
Now look at the difference there.
When you made the intentional choice to not go out,
Which is definitely a bummer in the moment,
But you said,
My goal,
What I want to achieve is greater than this short term opportunity to go have fun with my friends.
So instead you pushed yourself to make the hard decision to move with intention toward what you wanted,
A promotion,
A step up in your career and you got it.
That is the power of living with intention and that is the power of leveraging your ability to choose what it is that you do every day.
And so living with intention is using that power of choice and actively moving toward what it is that you want,
Especially in those moments when it can be challenging to choose your goal or your dream over what could just be fun for the night or what could be a short term scenario that's more fun than the one you're looking at if you're moving toward your dream with intention.
And so I just want to explain that because we're going to talk constantly in this podcast about living with intention and luckily the many incredible guests that I already have lined up and that I know will be sharing insights as well down the line,
They're all giving you great examples of how they've lived with intention and how that's changed their life.
And we're always going to be offering practical tips for living with intention and for leveraging the power of choice.
So if you're ready to finally freaking do that thing that you've been wanting to do,
This is the podcast for you.
So stay tuned in,
Let's talk about living with intention and let's help you achieve your biggest,
Most badass,
Most epic dreams.
Are you in?
Because I am.
I'm here,
I'm ready for it.
All you have to do is come back and keep listening.
So please do come back and keep listening and I look forward to talking to you again really soon.
