Hey there intention getters.
Welcome to another episode of Mindset Reset Radio.
As you know because you already heard my intro today I want to talk about something that I feel really passionate about which is our power to create whatever it is that we want.
So often we forget that we have the power to do this to either create what we want or to change what's happening to make it what we want.
Literally if you want it you can take it and we're going to talk about exactly how to do that and that starts with awareness.
With awareness of rather than just being in a state of anxiety or panic or unhappiness and just sort of accepting it for what it is,
Bringing in the awareness that I don't like this and I want to change it.
So how do you bring in that awareness?
This is something I talk about a lot because it's so so so important to living with intention.
We have to be aware of what we want,
What's important to us,
What we're feeling if we are able to shift if we want to be able to shift our mindset.
So there are a few ways to bring in that awareness.
Journaling,
Just putting pen to paper.
It doesn't have to be long.
It doesn't have to be extensive.
It can simply be journaling this is how I feel right now and this is how I want to feel and then visualizing what your life looks like in that moment when you shift into what you want to feel and then allowing yourself to start embodying that and to start acting in from that place of what you want to feel.
So there's the journaling and sort of the visualizing piece of the journaling.
There's just simple methods for tuning in.
I share about this in another episode about the power of tuning in and why we need to do that to live with intention and the reason I talk about that is in tuning in we're able to access that awareness which is this first step and so to tune in can be as simple as you stop what you're doing,
Take a deep breath,
Then you ask yourself what's happening right now,
Why don't I like it let's say,
Then what might I be able to do from this place to change how that's feeling,
To change how I feel about that and then come back to another deep breath and resume.
So that's another way to tune in is to just tap into what you're feeling,
Tap into what it is you want to change or what you want to keep and then sort of seal that in,
That's the way it feels to me at least,
With another deep breath.
So we have journaling,
We have tuning in,
We have just straight up meditating or just drinking your tea while staring out the window.
Anything you can do to quiet the noise,
That's going to allow you to heighten that awareness that you already have inside of you but that's just sort of being drowned out by the noise of our lives,
By the noise of work and friends and events and our to-do list and the people we surround ourselves with,
It's so easy to just live in the noise.
So what I want you to do is to create what you want,
To bring to life what it is that you want,
Whether that's as big as travel in the world or as simple as in my case the other day feeling like our house was cold,
Not physically cold but it just didn't feel warm and inviting,
Something as simple as that.
So we start with that awareness,
What do I want to change?
And then the next step is declaring that you want to change it and how you want to change it.
So in my case when I felt like my living room was too cold and I didn't like how it felt,
The declaration was I want to make this space feel warmer because that feels comfortable to me,
That makes me happy and I can feel more relaxed and at peace.
So declare what it is that you want to create,
Whether that's traveling the world or creating a better relationship with your significant other or yourself,
Choose what it is that you want to change,
What you want to create and declare it to the world.
Because once you say it out loud,
Even if it's only loud enough for you to hear it,
It becomes real.
And that is sort of how you take that first step toward committing to make that happen.
And then the third step is taking action.
What can I do right now in service of what I want long term or what I want to fix?
So for me with my living room situation,
What could I do right now?
I could buy some candles,
I could turn on some lights.
We just moved into our apartment so I could hang up some pictures.
Things that make the space feel warm and comfortable for me,
That is all within my control.
So instead of just sitting there feeling annoyed that I'm not happy in the space,
I could then take action to create the space that I want.
If you want to create a life of travel,
The first step might be researching.
So how can you take action today that's maybe researching the first location that you want to go to?
Or researching visas for the place that you already know you want to go to?
Or researching for travel groups because you're going to be traveling by yourself but you want to find a group to join in with.
So what can I do to take action right now to change what I'm feeling,
What I'm experiencing,
What I'm doing into something that I want to do,
Experience,
Or feel?
And it's as simple as that folks.
It really,
Really is.
And when you can do that over and over again and you get into the habit of shifting your reality even in those little moments in a living room or with your child,
With your spouse,
Or while you're working out,
Shifting that mindset.
This is how I'm feeling and I don't like it.
I'm declaring this is how I want to feel or this is what I want to do.
This is what I want to experience.
And then taking action.
And taking action is often where we get caught up.
Maybe you have the awareness,
You see that you want to do something,
You know what it is you want to do,
But then you start to get stuck at the next step.
And so what I want you to do if you're finding yourself getting stuck not doing the research or not being willing to read that next chapter that you know is going to be really powerful in the personal development book that you're reading,
I want you to consider why.
And there are a few reasons.
The first and foremost that I can guarantee many of us have felt before and are probably feeling in this scenario might be fear.
I'm scared of traveling the world.
I'm scared I might fail in my business.
I'm scared I don't know how to get clients to start building my side gig.
So there's fear,
Of course.
There's doubt.
And doubt is sort of woven in with that fear.
I don't think that I have what it takes to make this happen.
That is exactly what happened when I decided to start this podcast.
I had the idea and I thought it was amazing.
That was my first instinct.
But then the second instinct was I don't know how the hell to start a podcast.
Like that seems like a giant barrier to entry.
I have no idea how to do this.
And another possibility is that what you think you want is not in fact aligned with what you really want to do.
If you keep putting something on your to-do list and it keeps falling down to other priorities,
There is a chance that it's something that you think you want to do or maybe you think you have to do,
But you don't actually want to do it.
So that's when I want you to pull back into that place of awareness to really tap into what you truly want,
Not what your parents want for you,
Not what your friends expect from you,
But what feels most aligned with you.
Because when we have a really strong why,
We really are very clear,
This is why I want this and I'm really excited about this.
It's easier to take those steps because you're working towards something you really want.
But that's why I would have friends say to me when I was personal training,
They would say to me,
Gosh,
I should really get in touch with you.
I really need you to help me work out.
I really should work these 10 pounds off or something.
And inevitably,
They would never get in touch because they don't actually want to do that.
They just think that they need to lose weight.
They think that they need to look a certain way.
So there's not really a powerful why there.
It's just like this is what it is.
This is what other people have told me.
This is what I see in the media.
So they're never going to take action on that.
So if you're struggling to get to that action point,
I just want you to ask yourself,
Do I really care about this?
Yes or no?
If no,
Okay,
We need to drop it or we need to rethink it.
We need to reevaluate it.
And then if you do really want it and you're still not moving forward,
Then it's time to address the fear,
The self-doubt,
The stories that we're telling,
The negative self-talk.
How do you deal with that?
Well,
There are a lot of ways.
Listening to podcasts like this,
Hopefully my podcast helps you move through some of those blocks or those fears with the tools and tactics that I and my amazing guests share.
Reading,
There's so many amazing,
Amazing personal development books out there that can be extremely powerful in helping you see your own power and tap into that.
Working with a coach was extremely helpful for me.
That really was a big shifter for me.
I mean,
I've really stepped into who I am with the help of a coach.
And because of that,
I have created so much.
As I like to very lovingly say,
I'm creating my empire now.
And it feels so good to be taking action on this stuff every single day.
And maybe as a therapist,
Honestly,
A lot of what holds us back,
What drives that self-doubt and negative self-talk is childhood trauma.
We are very young and impressionable people taking in a lot of opinions and a lot of thoughts and a lot of just people telling us what to be and what to do.
And unfortunately,
Some of us experienced that in a way that was not supportive of us growing into our most powerful self.
And so those things that we were taught as beliefs became truths.
And so that's what we believe is true about ourselves.
So oftentimes,
Therapy is super always,
I will say,
Therapy is so powerful in teasing that stuff apart and pulling apart those stories and saying,
Okay,
I don't actually doubt myself.
My inner child is just scared as hell because of X,
Y,
And Z.
That's a lot of the work I've been doing lately,
The inner child work.
And it has been amazing to see how little things that happened when I was a kid are affecting me as a 31-year-old adult who runs a successful business,
Who's traveled the world,
Who's owned a home,
Who's moved cross country twice.
And yet she's still in there and she's scared as shit.
And so being able to recognize that and a therapist often,
Especially therapists that specialize in inner child and childhood trauma can help you start to dig that out because sometimes,
No matter how hard you push,
You just keep hitting that wall.
And sometimes you're just not going to be able to move past that until you address it because that wall is something that you don't even know.
You don't even know what it is or why it's there.
It's just there.
So when we are talking,
Coming back about the power to create,
That is power that you have right now,
Tomorrow,
Yesterday,
Every day for the rest of your life.
And the way to tap into that power to create is there are three steps.
The first step,
Awareness.
I don't like what I'm feeling.
I don't want to do this or I do really want to do this.
I'm feeling passionate about this.
I want to move forward.
The next step,
Declaration.
This is what I want.
Not this is what I'd like to have.
This is what I want.
Say it with power and own it.
And then finally,
Take action.
And if you find that you continually can't take action,
Then turn to the things that we've just talked about to allow yourself to tap in to what is blocking you from taking that first step.
And I'm telling you right now,
You will be amazed.
Practice this with something really small,
Something at home,
Something that doesn't feel so risky.
And see how because you've decided you want to change it,
You want to change the way you feel the situation you're in,
You in fact do change it.
Starts with that awareness though.
So work on those awareness practices and then show yourself,
Blow your own freaking mind when you do this and you see,
Oh shit,
I do have the power to create whatever it is that I want.
So I'm just going to keep doing it because it feels really freaking good.
Because it does.
So that's it for me today.
This week I'm so grateful that you tuned in.
I hope that this was helpful.
