Welcome,
Welcome.
So today we are going to talk about ending the year on our own terms.
And.
.
.
We're in the final chapter of the year.
We have about 11 weeks left.
And the invitation for today is to really think about How do you want to feel at the end of the year?
Around how you've showed up.
It doesn't really mean we get to control,
Of course,
How the year ends.
Life will continue to surprise us.
There will be circumstances and challenges and opportunities that we cannot predict,
Right?
But we can be intentional about how we show up for it.
We can influence where we put our attention,
What we prioritize,
How we care for ourselves along the way.
So today is not about setting more goals.
Or putting more pressure on ourselves to finish strong.
Instead,
Today we're really going to do a mental visualization exercise and imagine ourselves at the end of the year,
How do we want to feel about how we've showed up?
And so my goal for all of you is to end today with just one simple intention for yourself.
So.
I invite you to transition with me into this and this will be kind of the full length of our time will really be kind of in this guided visualization at the very end.
Will have about three to four minutes to do some writing and reflection for yourself.
So if you're not already there,
I invite you to find a comfortable position either seated or lying down.
And you're welcome to close your eyes or soften your gaze.
I invite you to make any movements that feel supportive.
For stillness.
Any stretches that feel like they could support you in settling.
Maybe some shoulder rolls.
Neck rolls.
And with your eyes closed.
Begin noticing.
The support.
Beneath your body.
Feel your points of contact resting on the ground.
Being held.
Allow your shoulders to soften.
Notice your breath.
Invite a little more fullness to your next breath.
Invite a little more ease to your next breath.
Can you allow it to feel nourishing?
Allowing your next breath to be restorative.
I'm just noticing your body.
Right here,
Right now.
And naming internally for yourself.
How are you arriving today?
Maybe you're energized or hopeful.
Or tired or distracted.
Overwhelmed.
Maybe somewhere in between.
There's no right way to feel just Notice what's here for you right now.
Bring your attention to your body.
What are you noticing there?
Where is your body holding tension?
Where is your body feeling ease?
Comfort.
We're in a season of transition,
The days are growing shorter.
And the natural world begins to turn a little bit inward.
But our lives don't always follow the seasons.
We may be rushing or juggling responsibilities or feeling pressure.
So take a moment to consider.
What's my pace been like lately?
What's my pace been like lately?
And how is that pace affecting me?
What have I been giving my attention to?
This is just meant to be kind of an audit of where we're at in this present moment.
So whatever's here,
Just allow it to be here.
Name it.
You don't have to change anything right now.
Taking a deep breath in through the nose.
Open the mouth and audible exhale through the mouth.
Now turning your imagination.
To the future.
Imagine the days pass and the season changes,
Life changes.
Continues to unfold.
And you find yourself near the end of the year.
Imagine it's a quiet moment.
Just for you,
Maybe you're sitting somewhere comfortable with a warm drink.
There's nowhere you need to be.
Nothing you need to do.
Imagine you are just simply taking a moment to reflect on the year that's coming to a close.
See if you can really visualize what that would look like in your mind's eye.
Yourself at the end of the year.
Reflecting on this the last few months.
Imagine feeling a sense of satisfaction.
Not because everything went perfectly.
Or because you accomplished everything.
But because you spent your time in ways that felt meaningful to you.
You made choices that reflected what matters most to you.
You responded to life as best you could.
You showed up for yourself and the people you care about.
Notice that feeling in your physical body.
And let it wash over you.
And seep into your cells.
And as you look back on these months,
I invite you to reflect,
What are you grateful you made time for?
What moments or experiences really stand out?
To you.
To your heart.
What did you allow yourself to release or let go of?
What are you really proud of?
Proud of yourself for.
Now moving beyond what you did.
Notice how you feel.
At the end of the year.
Maybe there's a sense of connection or ease.
Maybe courage.
Grounded.
Playful,
Present.
Maybe it's peaceful.
Satisfied.
Ask yourself,
How do you want to feel?
About the way you've lived.
In the last few months of the year.
Maybe there's a word or a phrase or maybe there's a metaphor or a visual or a character from a book or a movie that really feels like it embodies.
The energy and the feeling that you want to have for yourself.
And just notice what comes to mind which images or words or feelings you don't need to force an answer just notice what comes up.
And taking a deep breath in through the nose.
And exhale audibly through the mouth with a sigh.
No.
Remembering that this imagined future isn't a prediction.
We don't know what the next 11 weeks will bring.
There will be unexpected things,
No doubt.
Plans may change and things that will happen that are outside of our control.
That this exercise isn't about guaranteeing a particular outcome.
It's just about deciding what matters to you.
And how do you want to meet?
Whatever comes your way.
Even when life doesn't go according to plan,
You can still practice showing up with intention.
So regardless of what happens around you,
How do you want to show up for yourself?
And your life.
How do you want to show up for yourself?
And your life.
Trusting that whatever responses need to be heard.
Have arisen there.
Taking a nice deep breath in through the nose.
And out through the mouth.
And imagine yourself.
Traveling backwards through time.
Until you arrive here in this moment.
Right where we started.
But perhaps with a little more clarity.
Around what matters.
You Consider the version of yourself that you just imagined.
The way you felt.
The things you valued.
The choices you were grateful you made.
And let's marinate on this question for a moment.
What's one thing within your control?
That could help you move toward that experience.
What's one thing within your control that could help you move toward that experience?
Maybe it's something you want to make more room for.
A boundary you want to practice.
Or some flexibility you want to embrace.
Relationship you want to nurture.
Just anything that feels.
.
.
Like something within your control that could really help move you towards your desired experience of showing up.
And if you could give yourself just one intention for the remainder of the year.
What would that intention be?
Not a goal or another obligation,
Just a way you want to show up.
See if you can capture it in a single word or phrase.
Now imagine one small way you could practice that intention.
This week.
One small way to put that intention into practice.
What does that look like in your real life?
And if that feels too challenging,
I invite you to see if you can make it micro.
If you can break it up into the tiniest little example.
Maybe see if you can.
Attach this kind of micro,
Intent micro habit,
If you will.
Micro practice.
Onto something that you already do.
So maybe your intention is to slow down and breathe.
And so.
.
.
A micro practice you might try.
Is every time you come to a red stoplight,
You take one deep breath in and out,
Nice and slowly.
That's just an example of one little micro habit.
That supports your intention.
That's in your control.
Take a nice deep breath in through the nose.
And out through the mouth.
Bring your attention back to your body.
Feel the support beneath you.
Notice your breath.
Notice any sounds around you near or far.
Take a moment to appreciate that you gave yourself this time today.
You don't have to figure out the rest of the year right now.
Just considering how we want to show up for the part that's right in front of us.
So when you're ready,
Gently opening your eyes.
And taking the next few minutes to capture.
Or write down anything that came up for you.
And I'll offer three questions for your reflection.
You don't need to answer them all,
Just follow what feels useful.
How do I want to feel about the way I've shown up for the rest of the year?
What matters most to me right now.
And what's one thing within my control that I can prioritize or practice?
To help me live that way.
