Hey there,
And welcome to this short reset.
Whether you're stepping into the hallways of ninth grade for the first time,
Or you're a few weeks into your first year of high school,
I want to remind you of something right off the bat.
You belong here.
High school can feel like a sudden jump with new routines,
Bigger expectations,
And a lot of noise.
But inside all that change,
You don't have to be perfect.
Let's just try to be curious.
Wherever you're listening.
Sitting at a desk.
Lying on your bed.
Or riding the bus.
Let's take a pause together.
Drop your shoulders away from your ears.
Let your jaw unhinge just a little bit.
And let your hands rest loosely in your lap.
You'll hear me say this often.
Breathing is the best medicine.
It costs nothing and it's always right there waiting to bring you back home to yourself.
With that said,
Let's take a deep breath in.
Together through the nose,
Filling up your lungs.
Holding that breath.
And now as you exhale,
Open your heart up to the sky and all the possibilities of the day.
Let's do that again.
Deep inhale through the nose.
Drawing in fresh,
Calm,
Positive energy.
And a long,
Slow exhale,
Letting any pressure or self-doubt drop away,
Opening your heart to the sky and everything this brand new chapter has to offer you.
Gently bring your awareness back to the room.
You can blink open your eyes if they were closed.
Remember,
You are capable.
You are ready.
You are enough and you are going to handle this year one step at a time.
May you have a beautiful day.
