Navigating the complexity of life can make us feel as though we have lost pieces of ourselves along the way.
It doesn't happen all at once.
But over time.
We may find that the situation that we're facing or the person that we're in relation to has extracted more of our attention,
Resources,
Life force,
Or energy than it deserves.
Indigenous healing traditions understood that trauma,
Oppression,
Grief,
And distress can lead to fragmentation of the spirit.
And in consequence,
Can engender chronic illness.
Just like our physical body,
Our energetic and soul bodies are permeable.
And thus,
If not boundaried.
Our spirit can wander outside of its container.
In this practice.
We are going to reclaim our sovereignty.
By calling our power back into our energetic body.
To restore balance,
Vitality,
And wholeness within our being.
We'll use alternate nostril breathing to prime and cleanse the energetic channels of our body.
And visualization to retrieve our power.
I invite you to bring your attention to your breath.
Feeling the air moving in and out of your nose.
There's nothing to control.
Just notice the rise and fall of your chest.
We're going to begin with alternate nostril breathing.
Let your lips close gently.
And with your right hand,
Place your index and middle fingers in the middle of your brow.
Take a cleansing breath in,
Breathing up to your fingers.
And out.
Then close your right nostril with your thumb and inhale slowly through the left nostril for 3 counts.
Close the left nostril with your ring finger,
Lift your thumb and exhale slowly through your right nostril for three counts.
Now breathe in through the right nostril all the way up to the brow.
At the top of your inhale,
Block the right nostril with your thumb,
Lift your ring finger,
And exhale out the left for three counts.
That's one round.
Let's continue.
Inhale through the left.
Close the left and exhale through the right.
Inhale through the right.
Close the right and exhale through the left.
Inhale through the left.
Close the left and exhale through the right.
Inhale right… and exhale left.
Inhale left… and exhale right.
Inhale… and exhale.
In.
And out.
Continuing on your own.
Inhaling all the way up to the brow.
And exhaling steadily.
A few more rounds.
Stay present.
Last round.
Lower your hand and find your natural rhythm.
I invite you to gently bring to mind the sources that may have depleted you.
The entities or situations that you have lost bits of yourself to.
Perhaps it's a friend,
A job,
Or a project that took too much from you.
Perhaps it was a relationship or a family member whose expectations you were trying to fulfill.
Perhaps it's a legal situation,
Accident,
Or illness that cost you your emotional and physical wellness.
Bring to mind the people or events that you have given your power to or who have taken more than agreed.
Imagine a beautiful,
Glowing light coming from the image and drawing closer to you.
This is your essence,
Your spirit,
Your energy that may have been splintered from you.
Closer and closer it travels until it meets your auric field.
And then your body.
Invite this light into your heart center.
Into your solar plexus.
Into your crown chakra or into any center within your being that you feel it belongs.
This glow continues to pour into your being.
Perhaps you notice your body positioning itself to receive,
Reclaiming your power.
Perhaps your hands want to turn upward to reveal your palms.
Your spine elongating,
Your shoulders falling back.
And your chest opening in receipt of this beautiful homecoming.
Feel the gentle warmth of this light as it pours over all of the parts it has always known.
Notice what parts of your body this light naturally gravitates towards.
Breathing into these places to support the reunion.
Noticing how your body feels as it's reconnecting with your energy.
Noticing any sensations or shifts in your body and where you feel them.
Perhaps you feel tingling.
Or pulsing.
Maybe heat.
Or coolness.
Breathing into these places,
Giving them permission to attune.
Feeling the complete revitalization taking place within you.
Continuing to envision this loving reclamation of your power coming back into your body.
As we close,
Let's ground in this reintegration with several deep breaths together.
I invite you to take a deep breath into the base of your belly,
Feeling your body swirling with your aliveness.
And slowly exhale,
Letting the energy settle into the fibers of your being.
And inhaling into the heart center,
Expanding the ribs.
And exhale into the body,
Allowing the breath to disperse throughout your limbs.
Last one.
Inhale,
Drawing your breath into your hips,
Expanding your pelvic floor.
And exhale,
Soften the body completely.
Our power is always ours.
It's our most vital creative instrument.
We may not always be able to control the conditions outside of us.
But we can control our self-governance.
When we protect,
Steward,
And discern where we should direct our power,
We can navigate life's circumstances with greater possibility,
Capacity,
And resilience.
I honor you for doing that for yourself today.
You may feel inclined to offer yourself some gentle,
Nurturing words of care.
Perhaps offering yourself love,
Appreciation,
Forgiveness,
Or giving yourself permission to release negative emotions or feelings from the people and experiences that you no longer wish to hold on to.
You can do this by visualizing these emotions and feelings being pulled out of your belly button or your sacral chakra.
I encourage you to be gentle with yourself today.
And further integrate this work by getting adequate rest.
Thank you for joining me today.
And calling your power back.
