Known as the Bullet Cluster (1E 0657-56), this system lies 3.7 billion light-years away in the constellation Carina. Captured by NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, the image reveals two galaxy clusters on either side of a bright spiral galaxy, with countless distant galaxies visible in the background. The Bullet Cluster is significant for helping scientists refine our understanding of dark matter and the mass that binds the universe together.
