My name is Hilary Lafon and I am so grateful that you've joined me today to explore positive affirmations.
The things we tell ourselves create our reality.
So if we're only focusing on negative statements,
Thoughts,
That's what our world becomes.
So let's take some time today to rest,
Relax,
And say something very kind to ourselves.
So wherever this meditation finds you today,
Make yourself as comfortable as only you know how.
Maybe you're sitting,
Standing,
Walking,
Lying down.
Just take a moment to center yourself.
If you feel ready and able to,
Close your eyes.
Set an intention for today's practice.
What would you like to grow or cultivate or get out of your time here?
Listen to your heart,
What does it say to you?
Although we live in a society that follows mind thinking and we follow what our mind tells us to do,
Once we check in with our heart,
We truly start to live the life we want to live.
So what is your heart telling you?
What intention is coming from your heart?
Check in for a moment,
How are you feeling emotionally?
There is no right or wrong,
Just noticing and paying attention.
Remembering that mindfulness is paying attention on purpose to the present moment in a particular way without judging.
We're not trying to push away the negative feelings and grab on to the positive,
We're trying to have a state of equanimity,
Meaning that whatever is going on,
We can handle,
We're okay with and we see in the same light.
Now let's check into our breath and our body.
Exhaling all the breath out,
Let's take a few breaths together,
Inhale deeply through the nose,
Inhaling and exhaling through the nose or the mouth,
Sighing it out,
Letting go of some energy.
Inhale again and exhale.
Allow a wave of relaxation to wash over you.
One more time,
Inhale and exhale.
Breathing softly and naturally for yourself,
Noticing any tense areas in your body,
Maybe just shifting,
Noticing,
Allowing yourself to be more comfortable.
Maybe with this next inhale you breathe in calm and relaxation and you exhale stress,
Inhaling and thinking calm,
Relaxation,
Exhaling stress and tension.
Allowing your face to soften,
Your throat,
Any tension in your neck,
Shoulders,
Back and spine,
Breathing in and out,
Softening,
Relaxing,
Staying present.
If your mind wanders,
Which it will do,
That's okay.
Just notice and come back.
Even if we do that a thousand times during our time together,
That is the exercise,
That is the practice.
Maybe place a small smile on your face,
Seeing this exercise through the eyes of a child,
Be curious,
Maybe laugh at yourself a little.
If your mind wanders,
Trying not to say anything negative to yourself,
Just coming back to the breath,
The present moment.
I encourage you to repeat these statements in your mind after me.
Even if you don't believe them now,
Fake it till you make it.
Saying these words helps rewire your circuitry.
I am lovable and deserving of unconditional love from others and most importantly from myself.
I am blessed with a loving family and true friendships.
People look up to me and value my worth.

Remembering that positive affirmations help us get to where we want to be.
Some of these statements we spoke may not be happening in our lives right now.
They may not yet be occurring.
Putting the intention,
Speaking it,
Thinking it,
Putting it out there creates a ripple effect so that we build the lives we want.
Our lives become more abundant.
We live with more authenticity.
When we follow our hearts,
Speak our truths,
The first thing we can do is be kind to ourselves.
We are just mirrors to other folks.
If we love ourselves,
Love will find us.
Remembering your intention that we set at the beginning of our time together.
Taking notice to see how you feel now compared to when we started.
This check-in,
This noticing helps us come back and practice again and again.
Let's end our time together with three deep breaths.
Exhaling all your breath out,
Inhaling through the nose,
Feeling your chest rise,
Your stomach expand,
Taking in more air than you think is possible.
And then slowly exhaling as a whisper through the nose or the mouth,
Letting it all go.
Letting out just a little bit more tension,
Stress.
Two more times,
Inhale and exhale.
One more time,
Inhale and exhale.
Breathing naturally and normally for yourself.
When you're ready,
Open your eyes,
Maybe have some movement in your hands and your feet.
Take a moment to be grateful for the time you spent working on yourself.
