Whether you’re sipping tea, coffee, or another warm, nourishing drink, this meditation invites you to ground yourself before the day unfolds. All you need is a warm cup in your hands and a few minutes to breathe.

Good morning,

This is Nancy from Moss & Moonlight.

This is a short meditation you can return to every morning as you enjoy your first cup of tea,

Coffee,

Or any warm drink you love.

If you haven't already,

Take a moment to prepare your drink and as you do,

Gently tune into the small details,

The sounds,

The movement,

The simple rhythm of preparing,

And I'll meet you back here to start.

Let's begin by settling into a comfortable cozy spot with your tea,

Coffee,

Or other warm drink.

Rest your hands around your cup in your lap.

You may soften your gaze toward the cup or close your eyes,

Whatever feels most natural this morning.

Take a slow deep breath in through your nose,

Filling your lungs completely,

And a long unhurried exhale through your mouth,

Emptying fully.

Bring your awareness to your hands resting around the cup and feel its temperature against your palms,

Its shape,

And its weight.

Take another slow breath in,

And as you exhale,

Allow your jaw to soften,

Your shoulders to drop,

And your body to settle in.

Lift your cup to breathe in the delicious scent of your drink.

With each breath,

Remember there is nothing to solve right now,

Just this quiet beginning.

Now slowly take your first sip,

Letting it linger in your mouth for just a moment,

Sensing the temperature and the flavor.

And as you swallow the liquid,

Feel the warmth moving down through your throat,

Spreading softly into your chest,

And warming your body from the inside.

Lower your cup into your lap and feel appreciation for the time that you have taken to practice this small ritual,

This pause before the day unfolds.

Remember that this practice is always here for you.

A warm cup,

A steady breath,

A gentle beginning,

Or even for a reset when you need one during the day.

Move gently through the rest of your day,
