Hi,
And welcome to this grounding practice.
I created this practice for people who feel like they're really stuck in their heads.
Maybe you feel this busyness in your mind,
In your head space,
Or maybe even somewhere up above your head.
You might notice kind of a frenetic energy.
You might notice thoughts pinging around quickly shifting from one thought to the next.
And it might feel challenging to even notice what's happening in your body below the space of your mind.
If you resonate with this,
This practice is for you.
So welcome.
So first I want to invite you to just notice your headspace.
Noticing the quality of your mind and noticing those thoughts kind of pinging around in your head or slightly above your head in the space around your head.
An invitation to just welcome your experience as it is,
Welcoming it to be here.
We don't need to change anything about it.
We can just allow it to be a little busy,
A little frenetic.
And then when you're ready,
I want to invite you to drop your attention down.
To your belly.
And start to notice your breathing.
As you breathe in,
Maybe noticing your belly,
Your ribs,
And your chest expanding.
Lifting and rising.
And as you breathe out,
Noticing your chest,
Your ribs,
And your belly fall.
Contracting.
Yeah,
And we'll stay with that for a few moments.
So just breathing in.
Noticing the sensation of breathing at your belly,
Your ribs,
And your chest.
And when you're ready,
Breathing out.
Noticing the sensation of breathing at your chest,
Your ribs,
Your belly.
An invitation to offer yourself some affirmations to help you ground yourself.
We'll start with a really simple affirmation,
Just a word to name this experience.
You might just tell yourself in your mind,
Down,
Down,
Down.
Down,
Down,
Down.
Allowing your body to release.
Down,
Down,
Down.
As you repeat that word in your mind,
Allowing your forehead to soften,
Your eyebrows to relax as you rest them down.
Allowing gravity to do a little bit of the work here as you allow.
Your cheekbones.
Your jaw to rest down.
Maybe creating a little bit of space between your upper teeth and your lower teeth.
Allowing your tongue to rest down at the bottom of your mouth.
Releasing from.
The top of your mouth.
Allowing your shoulders to become heavy as gravity also supports them to be rested down your back.
Following that sensation of down.
Allowing the muscles in your shoulders and your back to rest,
Releasing any squeezing,
Clinging,
Or holding that might be happening.
Allowing this part of your body to become soft as it rests down,
Down,
Down.
As this part of your body maybe becomes a little bit more restful.
See if you can notice your body feeling more heavy.
As your body,
Your shoulders and your back and maybe even your hips rest on the chair.
Or the floor or wherever you are seated or lying,
Allowing your body to become heavy as it's supported in this space.
Down,
Down,
Down.
Noticing your hips wherever you're seated or lying.
And again,
Resting them down,
Allowing them to become heavy with the force of gravity holding you here to this space where you're seated or lying.
Releasing any clinging,
Squeezing,
Holding.
Seeing if you can just drop down a little bit more.
And then allowing your legs and your feet to become heavy.
Allowing your legs.
And your feet to drop down,
Down,
Down.
If you're lying down,
Maybe your feet flop open to the side.
And if you're seated,
Allowing the soles of your feet to rest firmly on the floor or whatever they're touching.
Repeating that affirmation in your mind's eye one more time.
Down,
Down,
Down,
Releasing.
There's nothing to hold.
There's nothing to do.
Just allowing your body to become heavy as you drop down,
Down,
Down into the space where you're seated or lying.
When you're ready.
Noticing your breath again,
Noticing your inhales and your exhales.
Allowing your body to be held in this space.
Allowing your body to be heavy as you're grounded here in this space.
And maybe even if it's possible,
Allowing this ground to support you.
Allowing the foundation of whatever you're seated or lying on to provide the support and structure that you need to hold you up.
And allowing your body to fully rest into this grounded space.
When you're ready,
You can let that go.
I'm just taking a moment before we end to notice what shifted.
Notice what changed.
Since we began this practice.
Noticing how your mental energy feels and noticing how your physical energy feels.
There may be big shifts.
There may be teeny tiny shifts.
All of it is fine.
All of it is welcome.
Just noticing what's changed.
And also noticing what's stayed the same.
And inviting your experience to be whatever it is.
When this practice feels complete for you,
You're welcome to open your eyes.
Orienting yourself back to the space that you're seated or lying in,
Just taking a look around.
Hmm.
I hope you found this practice helpful today.
