Lección 1
Acceptance
In part 1 we're reflecting about the setback itself and how it has changed the reality we're facing. This first step is about getting to accept that the present moment with the new situation is the new reality that you are facing. Resisting this new reality is not allowing you to take the next step to move ahead on your journey to emotional resilience.
Lección 2
Feel It - The Body Scan
When facing a new situation that is different to what you have been expected, it's important to become fully aware of what is really going on inside of you. Spend a moment to settle in with the new reality and then sense how you actually feel about the new setting. Knowing how you feel will help you becoming clearer about your next steps.
Lección 3
Why, Why, Why - Feeling Upset About A Setback
Life did not work out the way you were hoping for and now you are frustrated, agree or you may feel like a victim to the circurstances. How could life be so unfair? Using Open Awareness to challenge your thoughts may help you to see how to move forward from this negative emotion. Moving your focus from the negativity to better understand what is going on in your mind might help you to get new insights about how to move on.
Lección 4
Being Scared - What Might The Future Bring?
When facing a new and unexpected reality we sometimes start catastrophizing and start expecting the worst to happen. Fear is taking over making our heart and mind really tight and closed up. We focus on the problem and forget our skills and capabilities. Challenging your fear may help you to take the next step from here. Leave behind the inertia of fear and start moving towards a more desirable future.
Lección 5
Taming The Inner Critic
Sometimes we're are furious and dissatisfied with ourselves. We screwed up big times and here comes the inner critic to motivate us by pouring salt into the wound of failure. Self-compassion is a better way to move on from this trap of self-blame and internal pressure. Using self-compassion is a powerful way to face your shortcomings while empowering oneself to action.
