Lección 1
Ahimsa (Non-Violence)
In this lesson, we will discuss non-violence or non-harm toward all beings, animals, and nature. We will explore the concept Ahimsa; to replace violent states of mind with contrary thought and action and ultimately, refrain from damaging ourselves and others. Ahimsa is to look into our personal history and seek to change old patterns that no longer serve our highest good. In this lesson, we will examine philosophy from Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Jr., and B.K.S. Iyengar in relation to non-violence, as well as look at fear as the root of violence.
Lección 2
Satya (Honesty)
In this lesson we explore truthfulness and authenticity (Satya). Satya requires us to lead with the heart and consider how we speak with others; it is to strive for honest communication at all times. We will discuss the resonance and frequency of truth and how lying can damage relationships. We will also look at the root of dishonesty and specific reasons people lie to one another, such as people-pleasing and self-esteem issues, and learn how honesty can lead a path to emancipation.
Lección 3
Asteya (Non-Stealing)
Asteya is to not take what belongs to others, nor borrow items for prolonged periods, nor use objects for divergent purposes, nor enter into debt. It is to refrain from misappropriating affections. In today's lesson, we will talk about ways we take from others and specific things we steal. We will look at subtle forms of theft – stealing time, energy, and wellness. We will also talk about when it is acceptable to borrow things if it will serve a greater purpose.
Lección 4
Brahmacharya (Walking With God)
Brahmacharya is to be responsible within intimate relationships; it is to respect oneself and others; it is to avoid depletion of vital or sexual energy, which can result in fatigue and inability to focus. Today, we will discuss what it means to walk with God. We will talk about restraint of detrimental activities and harmful behaviors. We will examine the balance between overindulgence and repression.
Lección 5
Aparigraha (Non-hoarding)
Aparigraha is to trust the abundant nature of the universe. It is to overcome lack mentality and poverty consciousness. In today's lesson, we will talk about greed and selfishness as root causes for greed and hoarding.
Lección 6
Saucha (Purity)
Saucha is to purify the inner and outer body. It is to be strict and selective with what we see, hear, taste, smell, and touch. In this lesson, we will discuss how we can turn our attention toward what is pure, such as truth and love. We will talk about the body as a temple which houses the Spirit and explore specific ways to purify the mind, body, and Spirit.
Lección 7
Santosha (Contentment)
Santosha is to abide in a peaceful state, no longer attached to people, places, or things as sources of happiness or disillusionment. It is to live a surrendered life of acceptance, regardless of circumstances. In today's lesson, we will talk about how to find contentment in the present moment. We will also look at the yogic term “vairagya,” which means non-attachment.
Lección 8
Tapas (Inner Fire)
Tapas is disciplined use of energy. It rids impurities from the mind, body, and Spirit. In this lesson, you will learn about three enemies of tapas and three specific forms of tapas. We will discuss tapas as a process of burning away things in our lives. We will also talk about how to define and manage suffering.
Lección 9
Svadhyaya (Self-study)
Svadhyaya is to cultivate self-awareness. It is to search within to discover singleness of purpose. In today's lesson, we will talk about the benefits of self-study, such the strengthening of mental musculature and spiritual stature. Svadhyaya helps us to identify intentions beneath our thoughts and the motivations behind our actions.
Lección 10
Isvarapranidhana (Surrender To God Or The Divine)
Isvarapranidhana is to devote time and energy toward contemplation of God or the Divine. It is to surrender Egoic thoughts, pride, and self-will. Today, we will talk about the idea of God and discuss alternate views of God or a Higher Power than that from our own understanding. We will delve into discussion on the power of surrender and the difficulty of releasing control. We will also draw parallels among many religious and spiritual traditions.

Excellent, accessible content. I also appreciate Brian's measured cadence in his talks. He doesn't overhwlem with an unending torrent of words. He pauses. He breathes. He gives the listener time and space to absorb the lesson.

I have read a lot of versions of these teachings and this is the best by far. This teacher’s insights are contemporary and relevant, unique, and of depth and substance. There was no summarising or skimming the surface here which I appreciated. I was reaching out for some relief and meaning and I got it. I listened through once and now I’ll listen...
